Serving as a historical landmark as well as a restaurant, Reynolds Tavern is a staple of Annapolis. I came in to have their afternoon tea, which is served in a separate section of the restaurant. I didn’t anticipate how popular tea time was here, so I am very lucky to have gotten a seat! I had the simple cream tea special, which served two scones with a pot of tea, all the flavors of my choosing. I had a pot of the Cupid’s Arrow tea, which had a strong aroma of cherry and almond. The tea was smooth and perfectly paired with the scones. Served with whipped butter and strawberry jam, I tried the cranberry and orange scone as well as the raisin and chocolate scone (one in house and one taken to go). Both of the scones were freshly baked and soft inside. The chocolate scone was absolutely delicious, making me want more. I enjoyed the tea room, however it was far more crowded than I would have liked. The servers were friendly, but it was difficult to get ahold of them due to the crowd.
Reasonably priced afternoon tea. Delicious scones.
Well, we went for a birthday celebration and presented a lovely birthday plate. The pub food was cold and marginal and way over priced. Stick to the tea and cakes and sandwiches. These they excel at.
Lovely Tea House. I stopped by Reynold’s Tavern expecting pub food and was pleasantly surprised to find it is an afternoon tea house with a good lunch menu. It has a relaxed, cozy, cottage atmosphere. The portobello fries and shrimp sandwich were both excellent. I’ve never had a traditional afternoon tea before, so before I left the city I tried their Sweet Tea, which was a pot of tea (I chose PG Tips), a scone served with jam and cream, and a plate of tea cakes. It was tremendous. I had a wonderful experience and would absolutely recommend this place for a relaxed lunch or afternoon tea.
