So what does one do when visiting this place and is a vegetarian ? Order an ice cream of coarse. Hands down this is the creamiest, tastiest, most scrumptious ice cream you’ll ever have. Go ahead try it and tell me I’m wrong.
Yes…it’s different. Hot dogs, ice cream, and hot dogs. Another old hang out. Either you like it, or don’t.
UCork is a bit mean with his/her review. Sure, most people go to Ann’s because of nostalgia, but some of the recommendations would destroy the essence of what they used to be. Cleaning and repairing are necessary, but expansion would be silly at r his point. I don’t think the original owner wanted it any other way, and when the mall came to mow her down, she held her ground. Bad business decisions? I don’t think so. I do miss the hot dog savants who used to work there. That was one of the wonders of the place that seems impossible to replicate. Technology could fix that though. I am now an out of towner who would never eat that sort of food at home.Clean & repair and get a computer to help replace the savants from the 80’s.
Nostalgic yumm. When the new places around town wanted to copy the best milkshakes available, they came to Ann’s. It’s still the best. The waitresses do every order by memory. The shop is small and only very rarely has there NOT been a line whatever time of day you go by. They now have picnic tables outside in addition to the counter seats. I usually take mine home to enjoy. The menu is small, but they do it well. Burgers, steak subs, fries, sodas, milkshakes, Ice cream cups & cones and their famous hotdogs. I’ve been coming for over 40 years and recommend them.
The footlong dogs, with chili are the best! Without a doubt the best milkshakes in Maryland.
My boyfriend introduced me to Ann’s Dari Creme and I have been in love with the place ever since. The service is great, the staff is extremely friendly and I’m so amazed at the fact that they remember everyones order. It’s always crowded which tells you that they have great food. I typically get the double dog and it’s great! Whenever I’m in the area I have to have one…it’s a must!
It has gotten plain.. Its a stand alone sub shop. The dogs did used to be the best thing in the world to treat yourself to. AN extra hit of chili is worth the effort which used to be 25 cents, but now its like 50 or something. They are afraid of change. If you want to use your card there they have an ATM for a buck surcharge. They really need to get with the times, maybe copy what Coke did and have a classic dog, but then offer other items and branch out. Its gonna dry up as the older customers die off. People only go there since its a nostalgic thing to do but those people are going away and new out of town folks and new generations are coming in. Show them what you can do. I even think they are afraid to change the stove out. Get modern gear. Clean the place up. Expand some. Even McDonalds knows to add more things but keep the classic things too. Whoever runs the place doesnt know much about business. Did I mention they dont write anything down? They pride themselves on that but guess what? They screw up orders a lot too trying to be the big brain. I recently went in, got a double dog with everything, but the place was dirty, chairs worn, no cars out front, no customers in there, and the workers being all hot stuff that they have this product people can;t do without. Well guess what….. fix the tude or you wont be in business too much longer…..I’d suggest:1- don’t thin that chili to stretch it out because your too lazy to make a new batch. Cook the hell out of it too.2- Be liberal with the chili when you do slather it on there.3- Start taking cards. Ditch that ATM. It means your penny pinching.4- Clean up the place. New stools.5- EXPAND. yeah I know you all tried to expand in a couple other locations and some superstitious issue you all have made those locations fail. Right now you need to come up with yet another item people will talk about fpr the better.6- Quit trying to be the brain. I have seen a lot of people eat the wrong order. Trust me. Its happening.7- Do something with that lobby area. You want to stay a small little sub shop? Leave it as it is.8- I know you make things to order each and every time. Thats why there’s a line. Do like some of the high volume places, make stuff in bulk but do it at the rate the customers are coming in. Wouldnt it be great if you all had a drive thru? You’ll never get there making stuff one at a time. Small minds do small things. Expand. Do something. Your leaning too hard on the past.
