I’m not sure… I had the sloppy joe and my wife had the American Cheese Stuffed Burger. The sloppy joe was great and probably the best we’d ever had. The burger was a different story. The burger had a strange taste to it. It seemed oddly firm. It also didn’t seem like ground meat (which we were expecting). It was firm like we said, but tasted off. Maybe they use something other than ground beef. The Chocolate Peanut Butter porter was okay but tasted like a fake chocolate flavor. The Euphoria (toffee nut brown ale) was very good.
Awful. We made a bad decision stopping here for dinner before our movie Monday night.First of all, they tried to seat us right at the door/hostess station, but did agree to let us sit elsewhere when we asked.I ordered a goat cheese stuffed burger after inquiring just how the burgers are cooked when Medium is requested. It came to the table burned side up on an open faced roll. So burned that I was barely able to cut it open with the knife provided in the utensil roll. When I was able to saw it open, the center was raw and no evidence of any cheese present. When the waiter finally checked in with us, he noticed that I wasn’t eating my burger, just the side salad that I was upcharged $2 for. I stated that based on his statement about how a burger ordered medium would be cooked, I was shocked that he served me this obviously charred burger. He seemed surprised that I complained and said that he would get me another. But our movie time was just 10 minutes away and my companion was finished his fish tacos ( they were ok). I declined, stating we didn’t have the time to wait. He must have told the manager that I complained, and shortly thereafter someone walked out of the kitchen and chatted up the hostess for about 5 minutes before walking over to our table. He stated he heard I complained about my burger, and that I didn’t want another. I validated these statements, but he seemed unable and unwilling to make things right. Cue the waiter who presents the check and removes the plate with the uneaten burger. And guess what, no charge off for that burger, we were billed the full amount. I asked the waiter why the burger was not removed, and the only comment was that I didn’t want another burger when it was offered so there was nothing he could do about the charge. We were already late fot the movie, so we paid and left. We’ll be spending our money elsewhere……
Good not great, nice place to stop for a quick meal, but the beer isn’t worth driving for, it’s one of those , we are already here let’s stop and grab a quick bite joints
Thoroughly impressed. To start there was a Sunday afternoon special going on in which all pints were a dollar, so while we had planned on ordering a flight to sample there is no point when you can order your samples full sized. I’d take or leave the mysterium, interesting spice but not super memorable. The IPA was good bit the double IPA was much better: smooth but flavorful. The best we tried was the Sweet Baby Jesus. Chocolate PB stout with hints of coffee…amazing. They were out of the app we wanted but it was a good thing because the crab cakes were delicious and filling. The salad was good and the duck fat fries were tasty for a handful but too heavy to eat all of them. Rice pilaf was spiced with curry which was odd but not bad. The only disappointing food was the tiramisu which was tiny and bland. Our waitress was rather inattentive but the restaurant was very busy. Not only would I go back but I am right now, only 24 hrs later and I think this time I’ll take home a growler.
Great pub overall. The beer is decent. The food is excellent. One of the few pubs I’ve been to that serves kobe burgers. I love eating here. I just wish their beers weren’t so forgettable.
I was having problems buying stuff online from their website and commented on their page. Within a day, someone wrote me, helped me complete the purchase for a friend’s bday and even overnighted the items to my friend’s place. – for this, their great selection of brews, and delicious food, duclaw gets my vote as a ‘Must See’ Brewery and restaurant. Thank you Kelly!
Bring one to Virginia Beach!. Love this place for the beer sampler, the food, and the beer to go carafes! Buy a gallon holder and refill anytime for minimally $6!. I go everytime I am in Baltimore. The mall this is in is so huge and it is a great place to rest your feet. Happy hour looks great with all the people off work filling the outdoor patio and the bar area. The brews ranged from real dark, sweet, heavy , to super light!. That is why the sampler is so great to start with.Wish they had one in Virginia Beach. There is also a location at the Thames Street at Fell’s Point. Can’t wait to get back there.
