Didn’t let the reviews daunt me. I see why they suck so bad. Went in with 40 min to go to close on a slow Monday night and the staff had already put up the restaurant was serving each other at the bar and couldn’t have cared less to serve or seat me.
HORRIFIC!!!I will never again make the mistake of trying to eat here. We waited for at least 5 minutes before the manager wandered over and asked if anyone had talked to us. Then, we waited another 3 minutes for the server to finally arrive. After waiting another 8 minutes for drinks from the bar that had clearly been sitting there for most of that eight minutes, we left. Save your money and go somewhere else. Oh, I almost forgot the best part: The person subjecting us to this level of service was TRAINING someone, thus assuring that the service at Joe’s Crab Shack will continue like this.
I visited Joe’s for the 2nd time on Saturday and I ate one of the crab leg pots that were made for two. It is a little pricey but I loved the atmosphere and the servers were pretty quick. We sat by the bar where we had two servers who didnt always communicate but there weren’t any delays in recieving our meals. The food was okay to me and I will be going back again especially for those crab legs!
Fun Atmosphere, Okay Food. My fiance and I were excited when a Joe’s Crab Shack opened in our area. We were promptly greeted and seated. A server came to take our drink order quickly and another server delivered them and told us she was taking over because our orginial server was going home. We ordered the sampler appetizer which was okay. The jalapeno crab balls were pretty good, the calmari is very breaded, and the dip was decent – but served VERY hot (temperature). I ordered the original steampot and my fiance chose the KJ steampot. It was good. I would say the seafood is more New Orleans or island style – definitely not Maryland… although they do have Old Bay which a true Marylander cannot live without. Our food was good but just okay. The atmosphere was fun – the decorations and the way the restaurant is laid out was neat, and the staff stops every so often to do a line dance which customers are welcome to join into – The Cupid Shuffle, etc. My fiance and I both decided that, for the price we paid at Joe’s Crab Shack, we could have made twice the food and it would have tasted better, so we won’t be going back.
