Group of co-workers stopped in for lunch on the way to BWI. Most of us ordered the famous crab cakes and they were great tasting as advertised. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Had a side of Brussels sprouts that were also expertly prepared, everything was great tasting. Great Service for having to take care of the group of ten. Will definitely stop in again next time I’m in the area.
This is a review that I really wish I didnt have to do.My family and I are long standing patrons of Timbuktu for over 25 years now.We have always enjoyed the quality of their food & up until recently the service has been excellent. On several occasions we have recommended them to Baltimore area residents, friends and family just visiting Baltimore or laying over at the airport. They all have raved about the food & service. On our family visit 2 weeks ago, we called ahead and made a reservation for 9:00pm. When we arrived, we were told the wait was about 10-15 minutes. Thirty five minutes later we were seated. We all dismissed this occurrence as being an isolated one. (Hopefully)Last night my family and I revisited Timbuktu for supper. I again called for a reservation and was told that we had one for 9:00pm 5/14/2016, But this was not a guarantee of being seated at 9:00pm, just that it places us in front of any walk-ins after our arrival. We arrived at 9:00pm and was told to have a seat. We waited for 35 minutes before I noticed that some customers that had walked in since we had been there, were being seated ahead of us. I asked the hostess about these, but she denied it. We were seated after being there for 40 minutes. My daughter pointed out all the unoccupied tables in the dining room. Evidently not enough serving staff on hand for a Saturday night. Our server brought us our drinks, salads and took our order for entrees. We then waited for 1 hour & 20 minutes, with no sign of our server & no word on when our meal would be ready. I finally summoned a busboy to check on our meals, as I was getting tired and ready to leave. Just then our food was delivered to our table. Our server placed the wrong entrees in front of the wrong people, we were missing 4 of the sides requested, and we had to verbally ask for them and then we still waited for cold mashed potatoes & gravy. Note: my daughter never received her appetizer. My family and I have all agreed that this is our last visit to Timbuktus and anyone we speak to will be updated as to their lack of service.Signed:Disheartening Adieu
I’m from out of town and Came for the lobster special. The waitress pretty much beat me up for my single lobster selection with one side-dish. I had to justify my choice by telling her that any leftover lobster wouldn’t keep at the hotel I was staying at. The food ended up being ok. Then the check came and they tried charging us for the two lobster dinner! Also somehow we lost our waitress and ended up with a waiter.
Don’t waste your time or money. This place used to be good – best crab cakes in the area. I recommended to business associates from out of town. Horrible customer service and subpar food. I am so embarrassed.
Great Value. I’m staying in Hanover on business and decided to try this place. Glad I did. Couldn’t find anything to complain about. I used the take out. Decent menu choices. Reasonable prices. Decent food. Fast service. No complaints!
First bad experience over a 3 years of visits. First time here and had bad food not service but food. Food came out over a 15min interval. 4 out of 12 was overcooked and burnt.
Everyone talks about the crab cakes but the steaks are great too. Try the newyork or prime rib and let me know. Plus the desserts are all handmade.
