For us, it begins and ends with the chicken. Their half chicken is simply amazing. The sides (greens, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese) are very good too. The dipping sauces are great. You can’t beat the price for around $12. We usually add a side and split the meal, which is just right, for a small dinner for 2 on a weeknight.
To me, brisket is the main test of a ‘cue joint. Here, it had a great smoke aroma and wasn’t cut too thick. Good job on that, but it was a bit too fatty for me. The pork sausage was good, not great. The collard greens were very nice, although chopped a bit too much. The beans were a bit too mushy, but they had nice flavour and it seems like a little meat was mixed in. We liked the basic slaw -nice and creamy. the cornbread piece was generous and had chunks of corn in it. The platters are a good deal. We also liked that they had a few more items on the menu – chili dogs, wings, etc. There is a small bar area with a decent selection of beer and a few TV’s!! I’ll be back.
