  I went to this deli today 5/9/16 to get lunch and had a most unfortunate experience. I stopped there about a year ago and had some decent Italian items. So since I was nearby and wanted something to eat today, this place came to mind. I walked in and while reading the menu I heard someone from behind the counter ask, How can I help you? I responded that I was still reading the menu. The counter person seemed bothered by this but I didn’t really pay it any mind. I then asked, Whats in your Italian sub? and to my surprise he snarked, MEAT. Seeing that he wasnt trying to be funny I turned to walk out. I wanted lunch, not conflict. But the moment got the best of me and I turned back around and said, Why dont you just tell me to get the hell out? to which he responded, Get out and we exchanged words.I have not been greeted by such hatred in a place of business for some time. I said nothing to get such a reaction. I only came there to get lunch, not insulted. Im not sure of the reason for this treatment. I can only surmise it was something visual. I had just come from playing tennis and maybe he didnt like my attire. But I think something else was at play, perhaps it was me! Yes, Im African American and have had hateful experiences before. Not often, but enough to recognize the symptoms when I experience them. RACISM is ugly!I will avoid the Chestnut Ridge Market in the future as there are many places that will greet me with respect and gladly accept my business. In fact I went to nearby Greenspring Station and had a very pleasant experience procuring the same item, an Italian sub.I will make sure to tell as many people as I can about this ugly establishment and its vile employee. No one tried to stop me from leaving or to tell me that, He kids with me, or that my business was important to them. Everyone seemed satisfied with the way things went.Lastly, there is no place in America for this kind of disrespect of anyone. The world is changing and the horrors of doing business with racists is of short life. As I said before, it will be a mission of mine to see to it forward thinking people stay away from the Chestnut Ridge Market.

  GREAT……………………………………………………………….. They had the best goat testicals in all my life there!!!ATTENTION!!! I HAVE AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!! Testicals… That is all i loved the girger pubes pizza with a side of salt and moo juice!!
