We were there and had an excellent experience. For appetizers we had escargot and a shrimp dish. Both were prepared very well. For our entrees we selected the prime rib and the seafood casserole and both were outstanding. We considered the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of the preparation. The service and the atmosphere are great. We will definitely be coming back.
Your odds are 50/50. Visited Saturday night, place was really busy, and service was slow, but the food was awesome, and worth the wait. I went before and was disturbed by paying fine dining prices for diner style service and menu. The service was bad and slow, but the food was great. My friend talked me in to going back and and it is getting better. If you go, head into the bar, the menu is new and so much better. I think they don t know what they want to be, so they have an old Bal mer menu and servers in the dining room, lots of old ladies dropping Hon and sweetie in there. In the bar they have a new menu with better service. So if you go stay away from the dining room and keep to the bar. You ll thank me.
EXCELLENT MEAL; GREAT PLACE. We were there the day it re-opened and everyone had crab cakes. They were GREAT! Really good and lumpy and just the right taste. I could see that other diners were happy, too. The new dining room is very pretty and the staff very nice and helpful. If one day stands for all, then the new ownership did a great job. I recommend this place very much.
Never, Never again. Never Again. I will enjoy writing bad reviews for this restaurant for a long, long time. Go out of your way to avoid the Williamsburg Inn.We used to go to the Williamsburg Inn at least once per month. We moved away 10 years ago and have only been back a hand full of times since. Today we made plans to visit friends and drove in from out of town for dinner. What a horrible mistake. The restaurant used to have a nice feel of Antiques. Now it just smells of mold. One of the fireplaces was burning, the other had a big bucket to collect the dripping rain water leaking in. It felt damp and cold. The food was poorly prepared and tasted awlful. The portions were very, very small for the price. Worse: the were out of Prime Rib. That is their specialty. I was confused. We were one of the first people to arrive for dinner at the restaurant, yet they were out of their specialty. There were hardly any other customers. Why? What’s worse, we were not told they were out until after we have ordered drinks, soup and salad. The soup and salad had arrived and we had already eaten them. That’s when the waitrss showed up with menus telling us that we had to reorder. We could not leave to go to another restaurant. We asked to speak to the manager and we got someone who clearly did not care to speak to us. He had a chip on his shoulder. How can you justify being condescending and unprofessional? His attitude was the final straw. Never, never again.
Cronically dry, tastless, uninspiring, luke wam food. We’ve been here several weekends because our neighbor seems to think it’s a nice place. Our last time we tried we were asked to wait for a table to be ready, when there was over a dozen open to sit at. Snobby old waitress was holding tables for friends. We finally left after 30min and saw 5 families go in, that arrived after us while still making us wait for a breakfast buffet. Very poor service. Go hungry before eating here!
