Easily the best chinese carry-out in Bel Air. The portions are big, the prices are fair and the service is great. It gets pretty busy, so I recommend to call ahead. It can get to over an hour wait! Which is further proof how good it is.
Best Chinese take out in Bel AIr. Over the years, I’ve been spoiled by eating some of the best chinese food around – living in LA ,SF and Boston and having good Chinese friends who showed me the best restaurants in the area, traveling to Hong Kong and mainland China…and I’ve had the misfortune to eat some really bad chinese food over the years, some of it in Bel Air… but Kim Wah has produced consistently good meals for me at a very reasonable price. they always seem to have a wait, but it’s definitely worth it. if you go for soup, upgrade to the Young Chow Won Ton Soup – big fat wontons (with thin skins, unlike some of the awful doughy wontons I’ve had in Bel Air at other Chinese restaurants) with shrimp, chicken, pork and veggies in a succulent broth- sometimes I get just that for a meal by myself. It’s definitely worth the extra couple of dollars. When entertaining, I normally will order the soup, either their happy family or triple delight, a moo shu, and one or two other menu options depending on how many guests I have, Portions are large and are accompanied by rice and lots of fortune cookies..and the usual fried wontons. Plan ahead if it’s a game night, as the wait might be long.
I tried to call and place an order but the number said the line was out of service. I’m so surprised I like this place
Good stuff. Obviously the guy from San Fran thinks he’s better than everyone else. I can certainly see why people (myself included) like the food served here.I’ll admit that some of the things they make, I prefer elsewhere. But some of the things they make I wouldn’t order anywhere else.Their General Tso’s chicken is good, but not quite spicy enough, and I actually prefer it from Wok to Go. I don’t think their pot stickers (or their dumplings) are excessively doughy, nor do I think they’re lacking meat; they’re pretty much stuffed full of it.What I love is their beef with string beans. The string beans are crisp and the beef is very tasty. I haven’t found a Chinese place anywhere that has outdone such a dish. I also very much enjoy their fried rice. It’s exactly the color, flavor, and consistency that I expect. In fact, I would say that a huge plus for Kim Wah is simply the fact that their food is very consistent.I’ve eaten food all over the world, including Singapore, Japan, and Guam, so I’ve certainly eaten outside Bel Air. I just think that for a good portion of their menu, Kim Wah excels. They also give you a huge amount of food for a very good price. I find with any Chinese take-out place that they tend to excel in some things and not others. I wouldn’t say Kim Wah is different, but they do make some great food and are very consistent. Also, they are always very friendly. Great people.
More Lousy Chinese Food in Bel Air. I had read a number of positive online reviews of this place, so in the spirit of optimism I tried it out. Ordered three basics that any good Chinese restaurant should be able to do well: egg rolls, potstickers, and shrimp fried rice. The potstickers were inedible; doughy with very little meat. Those got thrown out. The shrimp fried rice, which should have been a golden brown, was black–like someone dumped a bottle of soy sauce into it. It tasted OK, but not great. The egg rolls were surprisingly fantastic; really well-balanced filling in a light, crispy shell. Unfortunately, great egg rolls don’t make up for the rest of the meal. People who say Kim Wah is good Chinese food have never been out of Bel Air. I used to go to a hole in the wall (literally) in a strip mall in San Francisco that puts this place to shame.
It’s my fav Chinese takeout they know me by name. They have really great food in the Bel Air area one of the best Singapore Mei fun …..
Best Chinese in Harford County. My husband and I have tried just about every Chinese restaurant in Harford County and never found anything that even seems edible. We decided to give it one last chance and try Kim Wah in Bel Air near the Harford Mall. The food was amazing! The chicken was high quality, the sauces were delicious and the portions were huge. The service was also very friendly.
