Over Booked & Poorly Managed. We went to By the Docks today for Mothers’ Day. We had a 5:00 reservation. We were not seated until 6:00. Over 50 people were waiting with us. We were told at 5:30 that they were just setting our table. When we were brought in by the hostess, the table was bare. From what we heard from other diners, we were lucky. One gentlemen said his group had a 2:30 reservation and did not receive their dinner until 6:00.The manager was very disorganized and they did not seem to have enough help. Although we know there were 50-60 people sitting outside waiting, tables were sitting empty. There was no effort to give those waiting menus or something to munch on. In fact the manager was just rude saying he had to overbook because people did not show. I think it is not a case of not showing, but of leaving. The sad part about this restaurant is the food was good. The lack of hospitality, though, kept it from being enjoyable. We would never go back.
Gah!. I respect the fact that people in my area don’t pay serious amounts for small portions. But why does that have to mean you are given huge portions of mediocre food for dinner-out prices? To me, this is no better than a seafood-themed Horn & Horn buffet. It’s ALL YOU CAN EAT, no question, but why would you want to?
