Waste of money and time: overall worst dining experience. I’ve never written a review for any place and am not someone that complains about bad service or even food, everyone has their bad days right? … BUT I could write a novel on everything wrong with this place, but in short: terrible food, terrible service, and rude/obnoxious/mean manager. A day later and I am still livid about how negative this experience was. Our group decided to give this restaurant a second try (the first time they triple charged a card and over drafted the account with no apology…) and it turned into a 20 minute argument with the manager who told us it was our fault about the service, our fault for asking to speak to him (and it took 40 minutes for him to even show up to our table)?! Don’t go here, they were awful…no customer should be treated that terribly.
Have given this place a try 3 times a few months a part. All 3 times were terrible. Food that was supposed to be hot came out cold. Servers and bar staff were inattentive and unfriendly. They always seemed like they were In the weeds yet the place is never crowded? I was hoping they would work the kinks out and get decent staff which is why I gave it a few more tries. Love the design of the remodel. They just need to hire new kitchen and waitstaff

The Barn is Just a Shed. Went to have crabs, the man at the hostess station inquired about a reservation, place had many open tables at 8pm. Was seated and waited for about 15 minutes with no recognition from any of the wait staff, Finally inquired of a young lady if we were ever going to be waited on. She went and got our server, low and behold he was the guy at the hostess station, he apologized and gave a complimentary shot of vodka. We order an Orange Crush cocktail, they forget the Triple Sec, and our server was the one making the drinks. We ordered steamed shrimp for an upfront order and 2 dozen crabs, Everything came out at the same time! The crabs were under seasoned (appeared to be rationing of the old bay seasoning). The crabs were not steamed with sufficient old bay, dry mustard, vinegar and beer – the traditional Maryland way. We observed the wait staff eating and drinking at the hostess, in plain view of all the customers and a social congregation at the bar drinking and talking ( don’t know if alcohol was involved). There was no music for back ground or least turn up the sound of the Orioles- Yankees Game, very dull. A young lady came and asked how we enjoyed the meal and we informed her of the problem with the drinks and crabs, She said the kitchen had run short on seasonings ( Mars is across the street, sure they sell Old Bay) .She asked us to please give them another chance and next time to ask for double seasonings. Shouldn’t have to ask for Md. Crabs to be cooked properly. I guess we will go back to Schultz’s in Essex, where the crabs are done perfectly every visit! We do give local establishments a chance but when what I cook at home is better than what a restaurant has proffered me, is hard to give them a second chance.
Lame overpriced food.. I have to say the place looks much better after the renovations. Better beer selection than before. Even though we sat at the bar, we had to get our own menus. The place had two tables eating on a Sunday afternoon, and maybe three people at the bar other than us. I had a very nice jalapeno margarita, but that’s where it ended. My husband had a teeny tiny french dip sandwich with chips for twelve bucks. I had the LAMEST chicken sandwich for eleven bucks plus a buck for fries (which were actually steak fries). She asked me what kind of bread I wanted. Didn’t expect it to be square wonder bread. The little chicken breast soaked right through the bread. It wasn’t even toasted. The red onion and tomato were sliced an inch thick, which I don’t fancy. Well, who does fancy an entire mouth full of raw onion in one bite. Ended up eating it with a knife and fork and the soggy bread was useless at holding anything together. Also iceberg lettuce which I find completely unacceptable for these prices. They play horrible pop country music as well. They do have outdoor seating, which is a plus. I would go back for drinks, not food.
They have some good happy hour specials so hopefully those will continue. Definitely smells a lot better in there after the renovation compared to the old barn. Some of the food was a little pricey but the $6 happy hour plates were tasted good (wings, shrimp wrapped in bacon, calamari)…I’ve also liked the breakfast burger on a different visit and that was good too (egg on top of a burger). All in all it’s still new and has kinks to work out like the other reviewer said but overall a good place.
It’s a tough like since it just opened. Food was good but over priced. Bartenders when it is super busy need to divide the bar up into sections not jumping around. Work this spot to this spot. I will let the place work out the opening kinks before returning in 6 months
