Had the pho with all of the nasty bits and two different types of spring rolls – shrimp and pork. Pork was definitely better than the shrimp. The clarity on the stock used in the pho was poor but the flavor and gelatin level was spot on.All things considered, everything was pretty normal – nothing exceptional.

Nice little place for good Vietnamese. (3/8/2014) Nice little pho place tucked inside the Mars shopping center in Carney at corner of Joppa and Harford. Stopped in for lunch at 11am when they opened. They were eager to serve, but some of the items weren’t ready yet, like the A1 Ch Gi/Fried Spring Rolls. Tried the A3 Gi Cun Heo Nng/Grilled Pork Summer Rolls; came with Nuoc Cham instead of the promised hoisin and peanut sauce (OK by me). Grilled pork was nicely marinated and lightly charred, definite hits of lemongrass; rolls had a super translucent and chewy skin, plump with tender noodles, a little romaine, fresh basil and green onion really made it.Had the B1 Special Bowl with beef slices, well done flank, brisket, soft tendon, tripe and meatballs; great mix of textures and chewy bits with the crisp table salad (cilantro, culantro, basil, beans sprouts, fresh jalapeos, lime wedge). I love topping my bowl with the house made spicy sauce (lovely toasted garlic and chiles in oil), and slurping up the temp hot and spicy hot broth at sweating, nose-running, eye-tearing levels. Clear you and up and make you strong. The broth was scented with star anise and cinnamon stick, a golden color, mildly beefy, overall was a good bowl.Clean, family-run place (e.g. don’t expect professional service), prices really reasonable and very good food. Hidden gem for now.

Limited menu. But very good. Borders on gourmet. Rolls were outstanding. Prices very reasonable. I’ll come back, even though it’s a big trip for me.

Delicious……….but. I found this little gem to have delicious food, attentive service, excellent prices, but they have a big (screen) problem, no, make that 2. It severely takes away from the enjoyment of dinner while 2 big-screen TVs are blaring out the CNN Nightly News, depicting the latest on the Boston bombings, Bangladesh building collapse, etc.Let us enjoy dinner in peace and quiet. TVs belong in bars or stand-up lunch places. How about some soothing music?Maybe next time, we’ll just do carry-out.

Awesome. Pho was much better than the place in Perry Hall. The broth had good flavor, color was appealing.. medium-rate eye-round steak was slightly over done but I didn’t care. The soup was delicious. What I really like about the Pho is the portion size. It’s slightly smaller than the usual Pho restaurants, the side dish they give is also relatively smaller but still more than enough… which means there is little waste. Also means that I don’t walk out feeling like a boat. The price is also lower per bowl (small is only $7.41, tax included).. can’t beat that for a quick meal. This place is slightly tucked away in the plaza and sits right next to a Chinese restaurant so it’s pretty easy to miss unless you drive through it.
