  Giving up on them. Sugarbakers has delicious cakes but horrible customer service. I used to order a cake from them annually, with a similar design each time; the last time I did so, I had to debate the sales clerk for several minutes over whether it was possible. The last time I attempted to do so, a different clerk told me there was NO WAY the design fit on that cake (even though this would have been the fifth year, on the same size) and refused to sell it until I upgraded to a larger size.After taking a break from them for awhile, I called today to order a specialty cake.Me: I would like to order a Smith Island cake.Her: we are really busy this week, so we are not accepting any new cake orders. You can try calling back every day to see if we have one in the case.Me: do you have any in the case right now?Her: no, but we will be baking several tomorrow. You can always call back to see if we can save one for you.So possibly, I misunderstood the conversation…but the gist seemed to be, you can’t reserve the cake you want even though we are baking several tomorrow and will have some around for retail sales.Giant sells a Smith Island cake from a different local bakery (not actually Giant), so I guess that’s what we’ll do from now on.

  Best Lemon Cake I’ve Ever Had!. I was given a lemon cake with fresh butter cream icing for a birthday not long ago and it hands down beat any cake I’ve ever tasted. The cake was super moist and had lemon cream in between the layers of cake and the icing was the most creamy, fresh tasting, delicious icing I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste. It was instant love. Haha. The staff was perfectly pleasant when i spoke to them myself later when buying cake for some family events after i loved my experience so much. All the cakes i tried after that lemon cake were also wonderful altho none will beat the lemon cake for me. I love all things lemon so it would be hard to convince me their others are better. 😉 But i do think they have divine cakes and fabulous icing! They are pricey yes but for a special occasion i highly recommend them. 🙂

  Delicious. The cakes here can’t be beat. They taste amazing and always look nice. I used them for my wedding cake and have had several of their cakes at birthdays and holidays. I wouldn’t say the customer service was horrible, but they were not super warm and inviting.

  Scrumptious!!. My wife ordered our anniversary cake from SugarBakers this past August and we have been back 4 times already! We had a great cake made for a friends dinner party, and an amazing pie for Thanksgiving too. The customer service is great, they helped us pick out different decorations for each cake.

  DO NOT GO TO SUGARBAKERS. Sugar Bakers has HORRIBLE customer service! I ordered two cakes off the retail menu for my mother’s 65TH surprise birthday party, as I was told I should order ahead to make sure they have the ones I want in the store. I ordered to pick the cakes up 9am on Sunday. Apparently there was a misunderstanding as they are not open on Sunday ( I had no clue) and the woman taking the order thought I said Sat. I received a voice mail on Saturday at 5:30p from Sugar Bakers ( they called me at 3:30p) to say they close at 4p and if I can’t get there in time to get the two cakes, I could pick them up on Monday. I was completely distraught and had to scramble Saturday night to try and get two cakes for my mom’s party. After two calls ( Monday and Tuesday) with no return call from the manager, I finally got one on the phone (Wednesday) who informed that they will not return my money nor give a store credit, and since no one returned my calls, my cakes were now gone as well! Apparently their misunderstanding was my fault……and I had to pay for it! I will tell everyone I know NOT to go to Sugar Bakers!
