I’ve always had great food there. However, after the kitchen fire I was warned to never eat from their kitchen…. So I haven’t since! Service is also usually pretty bad!

Overall I like it! They have DELICIOUS oysters and mussels if you like thugs like that. Also I recommend Going for breakfast and get the creme brle French toast!! It was the best French toast I’ve ever had and it was made with challah bread and had salted caramel on top. Also their corn beef hash is good and their sausage and basically everything else was good that I’ve had

Food was good, service left a lot to be desired. We arrived at 430 on a Sunday with our small child. We weren’t sure if the hostess WAS the hostess, never a good sign. We asked for a high chair and she looked confused. She brought one out but I later noticed they had 10 – so not sure why she was confused? It’s clearly a common request. Our waitress came by to take our drink order. I asked for a beer list. Again, confusion but I did get the list. It’s not very impressive. At all. We ordered an appetizer, drinks, then our meals. They brought the kids meal out before the appetizer which I thought was nice, until she next brought out my meal. When I reminded her of the app she said it would be out in a minute and was surprised when we said we no longer wanted it since we had our meal. Took a while for my husbands meal to arrive. The manager was wandering around offering koozies to the under-21 staff and not really…..well….managing. Overall the food was good, I think our server was new so I give her a bit of a break for that, she was nice and seemed like she wanted to do a good job, but overall the general incompetence from all sides greatly interfered with our meal enjoyment.

False Advertizing. When it comes to places that claim to be British pubs, I’m a bit of a tough grader. Union Jack’s might have had the ambiance down (when it doubt, slap a Union Jack on anything nailed down) but the food left A LOT to be desired. There was nothing on the menu I would recommend. The fish and chips were poor, the Indian curry was laughable and the list goes on and on. I’m pretty sure the people behind Union Jack’s NEVER stepped foot in a real pub. *Of course this might be a moot point because the Columbia one is closed I believe.

One Stop Dining. Tried Union Jack’s in Columbia, MD tonight. Prices looked reasonable. Ordered the split pea soup, the cottage pie and iced tea. The service was good and the food delivery was quick but not rushed. The soup was ok but nothing to rave about. The cottage pie was poor. Served in a little iron dish on a large plate that emphasized how small it was. The dry mashed potato topping tasted like it came from a box. Under the uninspiring topping there were small gobbets of some kind of tenderized, gristly beef with some peas and carrots. What little gravy there was was thin and insipid. This caused me to revisit my thinking the prices are reasonable when they charged $13 for this mess. But the iced tea was pretty good. There are two much better pub-style restaurants in the area that offer much better alternatives. This place is great for one stop dining. Stop there once and you’ll never go back.
