Ordered the steak and crab cake. The ribeye steak was possibly the worst ever thin steak. But the crab cake was definitely the worst I ever had. Left it as is.
Venison and Atmosphere A, beer B-/C+. Had my birthday lunch here on December 24th. Staff and service was very good, especially considering how busy they were. Our table ordered the Sausage Sampler with Bockwurst and Venison sausage. Both were very good, the Bockwurst was melt in your mouth tender with good seasoning. The venison sausage was stronger tasting, like it should be. Two of our party ordered the Venison Steak, medium rare. The other person’s came out medium rare, mine was more medium. For whatever reason, the medium was more tender. The sauce for the steak was amazing! The garlic mashed potatoes were good, but could barely taste the garlic. We also ordered both the regular sampler and the seasonal sampler of their beers. Of the 8 beers sampled, only about half were palatable. Their Dunkel had an almost fishy aftertaste. The pumpkin ale was good, about on par with Bell’s pumpkin ale. The Dobblebock was tolerable, but had a flat flavor profile. The Banana Caramel Xango is fantastic! Just sweet enough with a good crisp on the pastry. So, in summary, go here for the food but don’t bother with the beer.
Worst pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw I have ever had. Restaurant is dingy and dusty. Paper signs up displaying the beers are crinkled and appear old. Very poor experience
German-American Comfort Food. One of the few restaurants locally who do venison on the menu–don’t miss the venison sausages! The traditional German dishes pleased even those at our table who’ve had the real deal. The red cabbage side was a bit soft by my standards, but the flavors were spot on. Etouffee special was tasty, with plenty of crab and good texture to the rice. The beer here seems to have a flavor profile more suited to those who prefer less hopped brews, but if you’re in the mood for something hoppy, try the American IPA or the Dunkel. Boomerang is a great choice for a refresher in hot weather. They have beer flights for those who want to acquaint themselves with the way EMB brew. Our server, Josh, was helpful and pleasant, and contributed to a great experience.
Excellent food and service. I held my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner at Ellicott Mills Brewing Company in May 2012 and it was a great success by all accounts. All attendees were very complimentary about the service and the food. The crab cakes are outstanding in terms of both flavor and quantity, but all other menu items are just as good. My dealings with the managers to arrange the dinner went very smoothly, and they were very accommodating and understanding with unexpected variations in the timing and number of attendees for the event. I’m very grateful to Dave and the entire Ellicott Mills Brewing staff for making my son’s rehearsal dinner a very memorable one.
Best Brew Pub. If you truly enjoy beer the taste, smell , flavor, aroma; a place you can sip and enjoy with great food to complement this is your place.
I really love their daily specials!. I accidently ran into their Tuesday Lobster Night and really enjoyed their own beer and fresh lobster! their services are great too! I will be going back there tonight for Thursday Oyster Night!
