Another valid choice for fast casual diners. This is a Mexican chain that freshly prepares everything on site for quick assembly and service. This particular location appears to have similar issues that I have encountered at other Maryland locations, all staffing related. The wait time to be served can take longer than necessary when management is not properly getting involved and allocating resources. The dining area though is well-maintained and kept clean. I enjoy their food, along with the hot sauces and fountain drinks.
I Want to LOVE you so Badly!. First, I’m a Utahn, from where Cafe Rio originated. So, that sets the bar pretty high since it was my favorite restaurant while there. They had AMAZING service! They got an unheard of amount of people through their establishments in record time…it was truly a sight to see. And incredible food (unless you hate their sweet sauces 😉 )As for this Frederick sibling, it is only a shell of the original’s glory. As for the food, it is solid take on tex mex, and fresh, and satisfying. But as I stand in a 25 minute line with only 8 people in front of me I find myself longing for the good ole’ Utah Cafe Rio. The one where the servers were almost super-humanly serving probably 1 person every 10 seconds. They had the food all coded so the cashier could glance at everything and know immediately what it was, and their teamwork was astounding, like they were reading each others minds. *sigh* it is not to be here my friends….I have been to this Cafe Rio now probably 6-8 times….hey I still need my taste of home…I just wish it didn’t take half and hour for my fix. The good news is that if you want fast service you can just go to Chipotle….I did hear several people in the Cafe Rio line discussing this very idea.
The meat and tortillas are good but the sauces are all sweet. Enchilada sauce isn’t supposed to be sweet. The sauce ruined the whole dish.
Yum. The food is here is much better than one may expect. The meats are fresh and not processed. The service is friendly and they have freshly made drinks. Nice!
