Today (11 March 2016) my friend and I dined at Reina. It’s restaurant week in Frederick Maryland. This was a good opportunity to try this place out – first time here for the both of us.There’s a nice variety of foods on the menu: Salsa and dips, a variety of guacamole, sandwiches, small tapas plates, entrees, tacos, etc. We decided to go for the lunch special for restaurant week, which we had an appetizer, entre, and dessert, all for $20 (plus change). First course:Pork Belly Lollipops with corn salsa, queso fresco and salsa huacainaReina Fritas: fried yucca, avocado, corn salsa, tomatoes, aji aioli, queso frescoSecond course:Pollo Reina marinated chicken breast with chaufa rice, aji aioli, avocadoSteak wrap: beef tenderloin tips with caramelized onions, pico de gallo, guacamole, tres quesos, pickled peppersFor dessert, we both had the tres leches, served with a light mango sauce and topped with fresh cream.Everything was very good and quite tasty. I only ate half my steak wrapped sandwich. I could have just ordered the wrap instead of ordering from the restaurant week menu. Friendly service by the two waiters that took care of us while we sat outside on the patio. Overall, a very good lunch.
