We are new to Frederick and have had many excellent meals but not at the Tasting Room. One of our biggest disappointments! eslecially the touted Panko Shrimp- dry and tasteless.
Tasty!. My wife and I went to the Tasting Room on our anniversary weekend. My specific reason for going was to haave duck 2 ways. I was disappointed when I found it was no longer on the menu, but pleasantly surprised at the food offered. I had the Duroc Pork belly appetizer, Veal sirloin steak and the pineapple bread pudding, while my wife had Crab Dip appetizer, crab cake dinner and dulce de leche cheesecake, The appetizers and entrees were very well made and the plates had a very balanced flavor. The deserts, well, they were absolutely amazing. Our waiter Jason did anexcellent job of caring for us and made our first visit very memorable. Will I return? Most Assuredly!
Had one of the best steaks at Tasting Room. Was served on sizzling skillet. Wine was nicely matched. Will go again.
Horrendous service, overcrowded loud bar scene, cramped dining area and terrible customer service
Enjoyable Place. The food was great, and so was the service. Glad to be back in Frederick for a visit!!
NY in Frederick. Finding a restaurant that has both a good menu and staff is hard to come by. People tend not to understand that the less (what I like to call) ‘clutter’ in the venue the more ambiance the patron will find. The idea that the crowd dictates the level of energy in the restaurant. The food is always on point, and their bar tenders are well versed in paring the perfect wine. The Tasting Room also reminds me a bit of NY and the fact that, again, the people along with the staff create that buzz that gives the venue an incredible energy. Some people may complain about the prices; but they are simply misunderstanding the menu. In order to execute the services, they offer, they have to have the ‘correct’ amount of staff to handle the clients demands. With that said, the menu prices are fair and a bit less expensive than what the same meal would cost in Chelsea or Soho…so next time your in Frederick stop by!
A Place for a Splurge Dinner. My original favorite restaurant for a special dinner was the Brown Pelican. It’s long gone so now my favorite is the Tasting Room. Their prices are very high, but the quality of the food and the service justifies us splurging once in a while. Prices for entrees average $35 but can go as high as $45.Most recently (Feb 20th) my husband and I had dinner – a belated Valentine’s dinner.Tony had the filet mignon, which came with potatoes au gratin and a small salad. I had the pork tenderloin. My pork was overcooked so I asked the waiter to have a new one made for me. It came out much better, although being a lean cut of meat, it still had a dry texture. We ate here for our anniversary last October. The waiter brought us a glass of champagne each to enjoy. The other option was dessert. Dinner that night was very good. We’ve also been here for lunch, which there’s always a good selection to choose from. Lunch price are much more reasonable. As I said, it’s a great place for a splurge. Very good food and excellent service. The only downside is the noise level. It’s not a place for a quite, romantic dinner.
