Dropped by the restaurant at 6:10 pm and were informed that the restaurant was completely booked for the entire evening, despite the fact that not a soul was present in the restaurant at the time. We elected to eat at a nearby restaurant right down the street and walked by Le Palais on our way home. Incredulously, only ONE table (out of roughly 20) was occupied at 7 pm. They also had special holiday menus (Christmas and New Year’s Eve) posted still (in mid-February). They must still be serving leftovers from those overbooked evenings…

I took my husband here for his birthday. Now I am generally not a fan of french food, but he is, so we went. We called at 4:30pm and made a reservation for 7pm. The food was wonderful. The escargot was superbly flavoured and supremely succulent. Not a hint of rubberiness. My entree was Sole in a crab and leek gratin. (My words not theirs) Fabulous! The fish melted in my mouth like butter, the rich dish was a wonderful mix of flavours, leaving me aware I had indulged but not overly so. Lastly the dessert was chocolate fondant in a cream orange grand marnier sauce. Words aren’t enough. Our Owner/Hostess was very nice and made this newcomer feel very welcome. Considering the 6-course menu option, their request for reservations is very understandable, not to mention a serious temptation for our next visit.

Fabulous French Food. My favorite restaurant for special occasions. Chef Joseph delivers authentic French food in an intimate atmosphere with gracious attention by the family staff.

Unparalleled French Cusine. It is impossible to find french cuisine this good without going downtown (DC), and even then this little restaurant gives them a run for their money. Absolutely delicious, decadent and authentic, a wonderful selection of french wines as well. If you are looking for fine french food in the DC area I highly recommend you try le palais.
