Traveling from out of state on buisiness I have eaten here several times over the past 3 months I think the service is very good and the good is definitely above average with great attention paid to the presentation the Flaming cheese is a rare treat outside of a Greek resturant and you should save room for the very creative neopolatin overall very high marks and the roaring fire during a recent cold spell was a real plus
I can’t believe that I have to state this criticism, but the service was a little too friendly. I visited with my husband and my 9 month old daughter and the attention lavished upon us was a little too much. I just wanted to eat my meal in peace after several hours traveling in the car. The food was good, however. I had a ceaser salad, which was a little bland for my taste, and a flat bread, which was very good, although a little cold when it was served to me. My husband had the chicken skewers and mashed potatoes, which he said were excellent. He also stated that the chicken was very tender. Also, he did not find the service overally friendly as I did. For what it’s worth, our 9 month old enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Overall, if I were local I would try this resturant again.
The new flaming.pit is excellent. The old pit was average but the changes to the menu and interior are great
Old is gone. The old Flaming Pit is gone, it has a new owner, completely renovated and open for business.
Horrible Experience 1/18/2013. I was excited to try this restaurant out. I wish I had done my research and checked review first, which would have saved me. There are multiple bad reviews on this place going back years and years! I went to eat there on a Friday night, upon our arrival the place was empty except for about 8 or 9 people in the piano lounge signing along to the oldies. The interior decor was very old and frankly pretty dirty. The carpet looked as if it needed to replaced or at the very least professionaly cleaned. The chairs were from the 1980’s and needed to be replaced. The ceiling is very low and the ceiling squares look yellow and not very clean. I think that you get the picture, so I will move on now.We sat and looked over the menu; the waitress was very nice but lacked knowledge of the menu and could not recommend any dishes. She kept saying that she loves, loves seafood. She was very sweet, but needed to know a bit more about the menu. On a positive note, the waitress was very apologetic for all that went wrong that evening.I asked if the crab bisque had lumps of crab in it, she replied yes of course. I ordered the crab bisque and my date ordered the Caesar salad. The crab bisque was a bowl of salty cream with zero lump crab meat in it, just awful. The Caesar salad on the other hand was pretty good. Crisp lettuce, nice croutons and Caesar dressing that was tasty. Soup or salad actually comes with the meal at no additional charge, so I was not too critical about the first course. I was pleased to replace my initial order of crab bisque with a caesar salad. Then we ordered the main courses, Veal Oscar and the Peppered-Brandy Filet Mignon Steak. We were excited to eat these dishes, until they arrived. The Veal Oscar was a sad wet breaded disaster. The breading was actually wet lacking any crispness. It was supposed to be topped with lump crab meat but instead seemed to be topped with the crab bisque which was salty and lacked any lump crab what so ever. The barnaise sauce was served cold atop the veal. Not room temperature or warm by any means, it was cold! Disgusting dish, I could not eat it. I am prior military and I pride myself on being able to eat anything and keep on going. Not this dish or shall I say slop. My date ordered the Peppered Brandy Filet Mignon medium. The filet came out well done and I mean well done. The taste was fine, not the best but ok. Unfortunately it was well over cooked and too tough to chew. I felt horrible for choosing this place-The flaming ARMpit! At this point I called the manager over, older Indian looking gentlemen. He introduced himself as the owner. I moved my dish to the side and apologized as I informed him that my veal oscar was not to my liking and I would like to order a different dish. He became noticeably angry, he said he eats that dish often and there is nothing wrong with the dish and I should just try and enjoy it. He actually pushed it back in front of me and stared at me with a strange grin on his face. I picked the dish up, handed it to him and told him that I do not want this dish and I would prefer to order something else. This is when he was outraged and told me that the chef was no longer in the kitchen and I could not order another dish. I was beside myself and simply requested that he remove the veal oscar from my check and bring me the bill. The waitress disappeared for awhile and then returned with the final bill. I had to laugh when I saw that the manager/owner removed my veal oscar however added in a salad to my bill. This is odd because the soup/salad course comes for free with your entre. He added a salad to my bill because he removed my main course which in his mind was justified. I was beside myself, so I stood up and excused myself from the table to go over and speak with the owner in private. I walked over to ask him why he had added a salad to my bill and he told me to just pay the bill and get out of his restaurant. In turn, I attempted to calm him down and explain that the first course came with my entre at no additional charge and all in all I did not even get to eat dinner because I had to turn my meal back. I explained that he is being very rude and I am feeling threatened by his angry tone and gestures. He started to scream in my face to get out, get out, get out. I honestly thought that he may have a heart attack. I paid my bill told him that I was very disappointed in his actions and his restaurant. He told me that he has been in business for 50 years and never ever had a complaint about the food he serves. He said if I ever go to any white table cloth restaurant I will never get any food better than his food. I promptly told him to log onto Yelp and check his reviews. He said what is Yelp! I laughed and left. $100 down the drain for disgusting tasteless food and a rude restaurant owner that does not have a clue how horrible his menu is and how much of a disgusting human being he is. I will never go back to the Flaming ARMpit again. Yuck.
My motorcycle chapter had our Christmas Party here and the food and service was awesome.
Horrible service and bland food. I have been here a few times, and each time I find the service is sub par and the food is bland. I have tried both meat and seafood dishes, I will not be going back.
