Norh Carolina Girl Critiquing KBQs. I was so happy to find out that KBQs relocated to Woodmore Town Center. I patronized them when they were in Bowie, prior to them closing. Well getting to the food, I grew up in North Carolina and I know good barbecue when I taste it; KBQs is tops. My father use to barbecue the whole pig and everyone loved his barbecue. I have tried the Smokey Bones, Ruby Tuesday’s Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, Levis, etc. All of these places serve ribs; however sometimes the meat seem as though they par boiled the meat and put some barbecue sauce on them for flavor. I have actually been disappointed in all of these places including the new Copper Canyon. Therefore; when I want the real deal, I go to KBQs, I get ribs that have the smoke flavor and smoke rings throughout the meat. The ribs are meaty and easily pulled away from the bones. I like the chicken wings too; however, sometimes they are a tad too smokey for my taste, my friends love the wings. KBQs provide barbecue sauces, but because the meats are so flavorful, I personally do not need sauce. I like their brisket, my son who is very choosy, fell in love with the brisket immediately, so much so that he did not leave any for me, I haven’t gotten over that. l.o.l. They have great combo platters, I have had the grilled fish and smoked sausage, they are great. Their side orders such as the mashed sweet potatoes are delicious, not too sweet. I love their string beans and broccoli salad. I cannot comment on the carbs, I tend to stay away from them; however, others say they are good. The place is clean and the staff is always pleasant. If you try them once; trust me you will return.

KBQ bbq better than ever *NEW LOCATION*. KBQ Real Barbeque has relocated to a new place that is bigger and better, at Woodmore Town Centre. The place is now a sit-down eatery with plenty of seating; and, it’s contemporary and clean. April 4, 2014KBQ Barbeque serves real smoked bbq ribs-The Q is kickin’. Good food, yummy sides – my mac’n’cheese and seasoned greens beans were very tasty, not salty. Nice atmosphere to dine-in though I got carry-out on this visit. Prompt friendly service, http://www.kbqbbq.com KBQ has not lost its fine art of barbeque-ing. In fact, I think the food tastes better than before when it won so many accolades and BBQ fans.Overall, I rate KBG 4 out of 5 stars.Chow!food_chick

CLOSED – NO LONGER OPEN. Shame on KBQ for leaving their 12500 Fairwood Pkwy Bowie, MD 20720 address on their web site, while at the same time NOT BEING OPEN THERE ANY LONGER. Sign on the old door says: Moving to DC.WARNING: KBQ is no longer in Maryland. I will not be finding and eating at KBQ for allowing customers to drive all the way to their old location with no notice what so ever that they have closed for good.

Yesterday’s food at today’s prices. Recently purchased some ribs and chicken to go. It was the 5th time I had been there. My prior experiences were good. This time the ribs were dry and tasted and felt like day old or so. I called KBQ and learned that my suspicions were true. Was told that 1 pm was too early in the day, but that I could return them. I said that it was a 14 mile rt ride and I was home for good. No other offer was extended. It seems to me that if the stuff is not what is usually offered/sold there should be a sign, someone should say something, or the price should be discounted giving the customer the choice of opting out. It’s like going to a restaurant and learning that the usual cook is off and there is no reason to expect the food to be as good as before. Had I known that I should not expect what I was accustomed to I could have purchased my lunch elsewhere. I don’t expect fast food consistency, but no one should have to gamble between old dry food and good food. I don’t eat fast food and I don’t believe that I should have to pay (time, money, gas) for bad food. That the person on the other end quickly asked if the food was dry tells me the issue is recurring. Too bad! I thought the 14 mile ride was worth it, but it ain’t no longer.

Call ahead, you won’t be sorry. More of a carryout KBQ has great BBQ. Love the fish sandwich & chicken wings.

Mediocre. The Q was mostly OK, but the service was terrible — very unfriendly. We could tell our business wasn’t wanted, so won’t be back.
