I was very surprised by the location, tucked away in an alley near the courthouse. The sandwich I had was great and the lemonade was perfect for a summer day. Friendly staff and quick service to boot, I’ll be stopping by again in the future!

Solid breakfast and lunch sandwiches. There’s nothing fancy about The Plum; they have good, filling, unpretentious sandwiches and salad. I had the lettuceless salad and a smoked turkey bagel with dill cream cheese, cucumber and tomato. The lettuceless salad is great, and very hearty – I would recommend either having it as your meal or getting it as part of a combo. You won’t need a whole salad and a whole sandwich. The sandwiches are what you want them to be – big piles of meat with the usual add ons in slightly unusual combinations for very reasonable prices. I haven’t tried it, but they’ve got a crunchy peanut butter, raisin, walnut and honey on croissant sandwich that is going to be what I get next time I’m there. You can get chips or carrots and celery on the side. Save room for a trailmix dessert bar. It was phenomenal – a slightly underbaked buttery shortbread with oats and butterscotch. They also serve breakfast. As a side note, you can do special events here, and I would recommend it for your next baby shower or bridal shower. They opened the restaurant just for us on a Saturday with a very limited deposit, and have both a brunch and a lunch option, both for very reasonable prices. I held a bridal shower for a friend here recently and the staff could not have gone out of their way more to make it a stress free event, plus everyone loved the food.
The Plum is truly a hidden gem of Hagerstown. It’s a little hard to find at first and the hours aren’t the greatest, but the homey atmosphere and fantastical cuisine make up for it with ease. Try the cream of turkey soup. It’s the bee’s knees!!!
