Had a girls night out and picked this place because it was a convenient location, off of the beltway for all of us! The waiter an older gentleman that wore a black cap, had absolutely no personality, didn’t smile once! we ordered cream of crab soup and it came in a bowl with a spoon in it! No saucer, no crackers on the side and it was warm at best. We tried to flag the waiter but he disappeared! We wanted to get it heated up but we ended up just eating it because we couldn’t find anyone to help us… And we didn’t want it to get any colder at that point! We got the special crabcakes with french fries and coleslaw… Coleslaw was RANCID!! Very disappointed will never eat there again!! I ate there along time ago and the food was decent but it has really gone downhill. Maybe they are trying to save money with food to pay for their ridiculous configuration of the new restaurant!?!!?? Rating this place a 1.0 is being generous!!
What happened?. The first time I went here it wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t anything to rave about. I went back in November of 2014 & got the beer battered crab cake, it wasn’t my favorite but thought I’d just get something different next time. I went again last night with my Mother who chose the restaurant, got the broiled crab cakes, and noticed while I was eating it that it didn’t look done it was wet on the inside and fell apart. I hate to complain, so I didnt. I had some left overs and went to broil the crab cake again this evening and it crumbled while in the oven. Anyway, after speaking to my Mom today she agreed that we wouldn’t go back to this place. Such a bummer because it’s lovely on the inside, the atmosphere is great, maybe it would be better to visit this place for a drink at the bar.
JennJ. Stopped by last nite for supper, tried the cake and steak..waiter was not very welcoming, had to ask for bread, cocktail sauce, sourcream…crab cake was very small and burned. Steak, ordered med rare was dry and very well done…great bkd potato and beets though!.Waiter dressed all in blac, black hat, not the usual waiter attire. Do;t know if the renovations will help, but I will stick to the pasta menu the next time. They really do need to power was h the tables and chairs and fix the wobbly tables correctly and not use a wad of napkins.
A Must Not!. After hearing from a friend that Gianni’s would be having a family friendly Superbowl event, I called the restaurant to confirm the details. My son lost his father to cancer this year and I wanted to do something special with him for Superbowl. I was told over the phone that Superbowl would be shown in the dining room with a complimentary half time buffet. She told me that children were welcome to attend and for the buffet. We arrived at the restaurant, took our seats, and ordered our drinks. All of a sudden, the owner came over to our table yelling in a nasty voice that the buffet was for the bar only, even though it would be set up in the dining room. She came across as being very unfriendly, unwelcoming and unappreciative of our business. Had she come over and nicely explained that someone had made a mistake, I would have went ahead and ordered dinner. Instead I opted to pay for my drinks and leave. I also want to mention that while Gianni’s was hosting a Superbowl Event, they also had an Oldies singer performing very loudly in the dining room during Superbowl. Guests attending the Superbowl Event were unable to hear the game commentary and also the half-time shop and commercials. This restaurant totally ruined our Superbowl this year. We will not return.
Food and service is awful. Went for lunch and sat in the bar area. The owner and his wife were sitting at the bar having a loud argument which made us very uncomfortable. Still no waitress. Thenthe wife reprimands a female employee (very loudly) for coming in early. Very unprofessional and we were now extremely uncomfortable with the atmosphere around us. Finally see a waitress. takes our order and eventually brings our food. My husbands lunch is wrong but the waitress is gone. We wait for 10 minutes and she comes back, takes his food and then comes back with the right food which is cold. She offers to replace it at no charge and finally returns with his hot lunch. Its still the wrong order so he doesnt eat it. When she returns again to see his uneaten meal, she has an attitude. One simple meal from the menu, REALLY? I ordered chicken salad which was shredded (disappointing) AND the simple untoasted white bread was stale. We’ve lived in Arbutus for 30 years and will never go back there nor will we EVER recommend it to anyone.
Saturday Night Show. We had stopped by Giannis for dinner,and stayed for one of the best shows we had ever seen. Mr. Charisma….. This guy put on one fantastic show. Our compliments to the staff for the finest meal, but also the greatest entertainer….a real showman,and a gentleman. We will defineately be back,for his shows,and the great food and very pleasant staff. Thank you again for a great night of good fun,great food, and unbelievably enjoyable entertainment
Good place. When we are in the area, my wife and I enjoy stopping to eat at Gianni’s. The food and service is good, convenient location off I-695 Baltimore beltway near intersection with I-95, and portion size for price is excellent.
