Good for a cheap eats. (3/31/2014) A coworker brought in some rolls for lunch. Tried the Kim Chi and the Tuna. The Kim Chi one was tasty, the Tuna was OK after some getting used to. Can’t help but feel that the canned tuna screams out for mayo and some sweet pickle relish. Love the tart, crunchy oshinko that comes with the rolls. Prices are def all right.
Excellent casual Korean. I don’t pretend to be an expert on Korean food, but when my lunch companion and I are the only non-Koreans in the place I figure the experts have spoken. This is a casual place with 12-15 tables, cramped and clearly meant for Koreans. (The menus on the wall are in Korean only, though the server will bring English menus to those who aren’t obviously Korean.) The food is mostly in three categories: snacks/appetizers, kim bobs and entrees. The kim bobs are rolls, fairly similar to sushi in their construction, though the two we ordered were filled with cooked beef and veggies and kimchi and veggies. (The kimchi was disappointingly mild.) The panchan we had at lunch was skimpy (four dishes) but serviceable. We had one entree, a tofu stew that was very good, though the menu didn’t mention the shrimp and clams that were in it. (We considered them a bonus, but vegetarians be warned.) Two kim bobs and one entree were $22, and we could have skipped one kim bob and still left full and satisfied for $16 for two (and that included a tip). The food wasn’t as spicy as some Korean food can be, but there was red pepper on the table and I’m sure we could have gotten some Siracha if we’d asked. I’ll be back.
