So so on food and service. I wasn’t happy with the food or the service. We had a Groupon for a $100. Nowhere on the Groupon did it mention any limitations except that it was for 4 people and could not be combined with other offers. We start ordering our appetizers, thinking it’d be easy to get to the $100 with the wine, apps and dessert. However, the waiter informed us that we had to order 4 entrees. SO, we ordered entrees that did not sound appeasing to us, and spent $200 in the process. Will not be going back again.

Great Little Gem. My husband and I attended a wedding here last year and we’ve been back twice since to eat at the restaurant. The food was delicious both times, and for the prices, you do get a lot of food. The first time my husband and I both had steak which was cooked to perfection and the second time I had shrimp and my husband had steak again. The shrimp here HUGE and there were plenty of them. My only suggestion is that the owners of the restaurant tone down the decor. I know it’s a fancy venue for weddings, but the dining rooms can seem a little stuffy and overcrowded if they’re busy. We’ve noticed that the clientele is mostly older couples, but if the owners toned down the decor and modernized the building a bit, they could probably draw a younger crowd.

Historic atmosphere set for a romantic evening, the menu has some unique items. The escargot in cream sauce is quite delicate and savory. The lamb shank falls off the bone and is a hearty portion with a bit of kick (spice). Overall the service is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I will return!

My wife and I decided to have our aniversery dinner at the furnace inn last week. I made reservations with a delightful woman ( belive her name was Pat?)who graciously helped me make special arraignments for my wife, she was in crutches at the time and was not able to climb te stairs to he upper dining rooms. Once we arrived we were greeted( or not) by an extremely rude, under dressed resturant host. He told us there was nut a table available for us on the first floor and would have to wait for one? WE HAD A RESERVATION?… Once we were seated we were constantly baraited by service staff in to and out if the dining room, very distracting. Our meal was very lack luster, nothing that closely resembled fine dining, TGI Fridays has more flavor. We wrapped dinner with desert( which was the highlight if the meal). No sooner than we revived our desert the same rude, dirty, almost homeless looking host began vacuuming the floor in the adjacent dining room? It was one of the rudest things I have ever expierenced. We quickly asked for our check and left. This was an absolute terrible dining expeerance, I will never go back and I will spread the word to all I know stay away from this place, terrible.

Service was attentive but food was barely warm and one appetizer was actually cold under the surface. Bread didn’t arrive until after the soup course was over. Beef filet cooked perfectly but lobster Mac and cheese was ordinary (not creamy at all) and room temperature. Way too expensive for the quality. Crab stuffed shrimp served with a polenta-like cake that was warm on the top but cold in the middle.just disappointing effort.

A gem in Howard County. There is simply no place like the Elkridge Furnace Inn. Be prepared for a memorable evening when you visit this restaurant. The menu is varied and creative. Meals are consistent and excellently prepared, with a special shout out to their duck with cherry-fig compote and other game dishes. We recently enjoyed the veal Marengo, an elegant version of the common chicken dish, flavored with crawfish and imbued with silken parcels of veal ravioli in a sauce with the depth and complexity of a fine wine. I would be remiss not to mention Chef Wecker’s spontaneous French history lessons when he visits our table or hosts wine events. He is a Francophile without pretense and a charming host, even on the busiest evenings! Chef Wecker is truly amazing, often sending out small tastes to delight and tease us as we relax in the warmly attentive but never stuffy atmosphere of the Inn. Service has always been superb and friendly, and occasional errors like a recently overdone steak are corrected without attitude. The Chef has a remarkable talent for matching wine with food, and somehow even made a perfect selection when our large party ordered a dozen varied entrees. We have been to wine tastings, each of which is different, all of which are high-spirited and fun, and by the way, include generous pours. We’ve enjoyed intimate dinners. And we have celebrated joyful family events, including birthdays, a graduation and even a brunch for my first outing following cancer surgery. Every staff member makes us feel special. Elkridge Furnace Inn is truly a gem in our region.
