To be fair I am a huge fan of Vito’s. We tried Carlos to see what our alternatives are for good Italian BYOB locally. I liked it. Food was good as was the service from Nadja. Nice that a salad comes with the entree. In all my loyalty remains with Vito’s but Carlos is a good choice too!

Not good. I gave this place 2 chances. First visit ordered a marinara sauce dish..horrible. Sauce right out of a jar. Second visit ordered fettucini alfredo – yuk! Sauce was thick and lumpy and had no flavor…as if the chef mixed flour and water together. Pasta all stuck together in clumps. This is not authentic Italian food! Place is stuffy and music (speakers) too loud. Had to tell server to turn down. Entres were brought out just minutes after salads. Save your $$! Much better places to dine!

Great food. This is a neighborhood gem. Been there 2 times already and the food is great. Was there Friday night, ordered one of the evening’s specials rock fish toscana which was delicious. Got a side of pasta with marinara sauce small dinner salad with a delicious house dressing and strawberry mascarpone for dessert. My husband, who happens to be very picky about food enjoyed the veal marsala which he loved. They had live music playing all the songs from the 80’s, they had removed tables from one of the rooms that has a hardwood floor for people to dance and we had a ball. This is BYOB which we love, small cork fee, our server, Nadja was wonderful. Can’t wait to go back.

Better places down the other side of Cranbrook. (12/01/2012) The old Treehouse has been updated to your standard red sauce house transplanted to the County. Interior is warm, twinkling lights, atmosphere leans towards the modern upscale side, food is spectacularly underwhelming (especially given the prices) from start to finish. Throughout the meal, just felt like there was an unfortunate confluence of missteps, poor execution, low quality or lack, or lack of effort. The starters did not bode well for the rest of the meal: olive oil to start was not all that flavorful or fruity, almost a strange musty, metallic taste, served with a bland frozen loaf of white Italian bread (same used for sandwiches); iceberg house salad was overdressed with a very sharp, acidic vinaigrette. Seafood Pescatore on the menu was described as prepared either with a white or red sauce, since I wasn’t asked which I preferred (red), the dish came with the white wine/garlic sauce; the dish was bland overall and the seafood overdone, although prettily plated with the mussels and clams still in the shell, 3 jumbo shrimp, rubbery squid bodies, prickly squid legs (I’m not normally squeamish, but even the insect-like legs were a visual turn-off for me). Both the Eggplant Parmagiana and the Prosciutto and Mozzarella sub were deemed adequate but neither dish was really enjoyed with much relish. Side of fried zucchini looked to be hand-breaded and were cooked to golden brown, zucchini tender-crisp still, probably the best thing we had, although came with a rather bland marinara. Most of the patrons looked to be suburbanites dining out as an event of some sort, lots of couples on dates and large tables of families or friend groups. Doesn’t feel much like a neighborhood hang out (especially at the price point), but not sure we’d return for any special occasion, just not warranted.
