I’ve tried to like this place since I live close by, but rarely satisfied after a meal here. What I like: -nachos -wings-Cobb salad-kid friendly What I don’t like:-burger!! Always over-cooked and dried out. Hard to believe since I use to frequent their downtown location just for the burger. -food comes out cold frequently (crab soup, crab dip). The soup actually had a big glob of non-thawed gelatinous goop in it – I asked them to heat it up but they only managed to nuke away half the clump so I gave up and wasted it.-salmon lox brunch dish – horrendous. Take it off the menu. My thought is that the owners have gotten lazy with this location given the lack of competition in the area.
Turkey burger with Swiss Cheese with muchrooms. My dining mates each had salads. I opted for Turkey Burger. We waited a long time for our meals.. When our dinner arrived, the cheese was undiscernible and hard.but burger was hot and hard. I asked waitstaff for mayonnaise but never got it from him and my friend eventually asked someone else for it. I could not registered a complaint then because I never saw anyone during dinner. This was the worst turkey burger I have ever had and I have ordered many. This was Friday evening about 5:00 and the restaurant was not busy. If your cook doesn’t know how to cook Turkey Burgers, it should not be on menu. This is very disappointing because I suggested Kooper’s to my friends. No more.
Decent place to grab a casual beer
Food was below average. Both Hostesses were rude.
Going to the bar at Koopers North yields a fifty fifty bet you will be transported to the trailers of Myrtle Manor. When the 20 something kitchen crew finishes their shift, they descend on the bar for foul mouthed discounted drinking sessions. Another recent highlight was watching one such employee turn the fruit and olive tray into his late night food trough, finger licking good it was for him. Burgers are ok. Much of the rest of the menu misses the mark though, in particular the flat bread with a half pound of barely melted mozzerella. Good beer selection.
Doesn’t live up, mediocre at best. (04/13/2013) Since the long-standing Cafe Isis left this spot at Roundwood Shopping Center, the was the rather overpriced and under-patronized Restaurant Sabor. Have patronized the Chowhound when it comes around and have always enjoyed their burgers. Maybe have some lower expectations for a food truck vs. a brick and mortar place. There’s not too much out this way in Mays Chapel and Kooper’s North serves as restaurant, but seems primarily bar. The meal overall had some highlights and lowlights. A BYO lamb burger with cheddar was ordered medium-well; the Otis was ordered medium; the Burger of the Month, medium rare; they apparently only do one temperature here, charred and well-done leaving all the patties rather dry and tough. The Burger of the Month was a wild boar burger, topped with a fried green tomato, serrano pepper sauce, on a jalapeno brioche bun and supposedly queso fresco (generally a crumbly fresh white cheese, on the burger was a melted slice of something like Monterey Jack). Honestly, only thing I could discern from all of those promised flavors was the char from the overdone patty. The green tomato had some slight tart moistness, but everything was pretty bland, not a hint of heat or other flavors. The very good Soup of the Day was a Roasted Corn Chowder, slightly charred corn coarsely ground in a thick, creamy, possibly cheesy, with a little tomato or pimiento. A House Salad was a large serving of fresh mixed field greens with your basic garden garnishes. Fries were also a hit, both the white and sweet potato kind; crisp, well-seasoned, fluffy interior. We were there on a Saturday night, which started busy then evolved to jammed with accompanying earsplitting crowd noise; saw a sign that there would be live music at 10 pm would think that’s unbearable. Service was very friendly and pretty prompt with drink refills, but seems like it’s the kitchen that slows things down between courses. For a burger joint, very disappointed, for a family restaurant definitely go early, for a return visit, we’ll see.
Delicious, perfectly cooked, reasonably priced, and gourmet without being pretentious. Love this place.
