Great Food!!. We accidentally found the Pennsylvania Dutch Market on a trip to Timonium. Not surprisingly, the place was packed with pre-Thanksgiving shoppers. What took some getting used to was that the Market is filled with an assortment of different vendors, all under the same roof. We walked around before stopping at the Village Smokehouse for a late lunch. The selection was quite large but we were tempted by the various Bison offerings. I opted for a Bison cheeseburger while my friends opted for a Bison cheesesteak and a chicken cheesesteak respectively. The food was prepared to order which is always a good sign and took a few minutes to arrive. The cheesesteaks looked quite good with fresh lettuce and tomato. A side-order of fries was excellent – cross-cut fries that were fresh from the fryer!! My friends reported that the cheesesteaks, while messy, were excellent. My Bison burger was excellent but the big standout was the bun – a fresh-baked yeast roll (I think) that did an excellent job of holding the sandwich together while providing an excellent flavor. This restaurant (and market) are about 1 1/2 hours from home BUT I may have to start making a pilgrimage!!
Don’t miss this place. So many different places to eat and shop under one roof. I recommend the Stoltzfus BBQ.
I love pretzels and… I love the Amish and their delicious pretzels. Also the whoopie pies are the most amazing dessert ever.
One word: pretzels!. My husband and I have tried many of the foodstuffs available in the market. We only go there for one reason: the soft pretzel stand! Everything else we’ve tried inside has been mediocre at best. But the pretzels are everything you want: hot, fresh, salty buttery goodness!
