I was brought here for a cheap date and it made the date even worse. The food is tasteless and one of my appetizers were still frozen!! The only plus for my cheap date was the waiters basically gave us all our drinks for free. Trust me I’ve been to Spain and this is far from good spainsh food. Don’t waste your time or money
The only good thing is the food…. Great food but don’t go if you want to feel like a valued customer. We waited 15 minutes without even being approached by a waiter or given any water. Then I had to ask the host what was going on. Supposedly, the bartender was supposed to pick up the tables and claimed that he couldn’t see us. When he approached us, he asked if we wanted to move to another section even after we waited patiently to get served. At that point, why would anyone want to move and wait even longer before ordering? The food came out quickly and we got sangria after the waiter suggested it, announcing it was half off. The only thing is that once we finished eating, the waiter came back to say that the promotion they always do on Thursday for half off sangria would not be valid with any other promotional offers. He never told us their would be only one promotional offer per table and we had ordered from the restaurant week menu already. We asked to see the manager. When he got the manager to come speak to us, she could not do anything to help and didn’t treat us as valued customers. Having worked in the customer service industry and restaurant industry myself, I can tell you that the management here has poor communication skills, no customer service etiquette, and very little respect for the patrons of this establishment. I do not recommend this location for La Tasca.
We were here late on a saturday night for drinks and dessert. The drinks were good as was the dessert. Only complaint, we were sitting in a table that was half out half inside and felt rushed out by the bus staff so they could close the large floor to ceiling windows. Disappointing since it was a time spent with a friend I had not seen in 2 yrs.
BAD – Will not go again. My husband took me there fo V day (14 Feb10) because I had a craving for paella. The last time I had was in Germany and it was great. When we got there the waiter was pleasant enough to get the job done but seems to be in a hurry although the restaurant was not that full. I think he shoudl have acted like a waiter of a classy restaurant where they explain the menu, etc. We order a garlic bread and cheese for apetizer and it was so bland, no garlic taste and it was so dry I could not eat it. For that I paid almost $4.00 for 3 small slices. They don’t put anything complementary on the table. The paella was not all that, it was runny like a thick soup and bland, the tres leches was not an original and very expensive. To tap it off it was frozen inside and I did not taste the condensed milk. We order coffee ($3.50) a small cup and it was so strong, it tasted like it was sitting on the pot for a long time. It was old!!! I should have listen to my friends when they told me that the one on 7th St in DC was terrible. However, I figure the chef in this one should be different. WRONG!!! Will never go back.
Disappointed Times Two. I went there twice and both times I was really disappointed. The service is great and the environment is good for socializing. But, the only food that is good was the bacon wrapped scallop which is like any other bacon wrapped scallop. The food is greasy and it all ends up tasting the same and the paella is flat. If you’re in the mood for hispanic food, step next door to La Canela. You will end up spending the same but you will be a heck of a lot happier.
Review in reverse: the tres leches is sublime- she said the strawberry on top was dusted in cinnamon. I had the chocolate truffle – complex and rich with almonds and vanilla ice cream. The pallela was creamy and mild. Comes with peas, doesn’t it? The cured meat tapas was interesting, but not for us. The chorizo was too mild and seemed like any other link. The beef skewers were bland, but the patatas bravas was excellent. The pork tenderloin was overcooked, but the snow peas were stellar- get it with ham. We enjoyed the sangria blanca and Cadillac sangria. The sangria list is impressive.
Where’s the meat?. We ordered meat tapas for two on Sunday night 4/20/08 and were quite dissapointed, only 3 of the 8 dishes contained a significant protein source. In addition, the dishes were bland and uninspiring. The food rivals the quality of a Healthy Choice frozen meal. Service was slow.
