Yasaman Bakery has some of the most authentic Persian sweets in the DMV area. If you’re on the Maryland side, Yasaman is your best (and only true) option for Persian baked goods. For Eid, I stopped in to grab an assortment of sweets-date cookies, baklava, bamieh, and pistachio tarts by the piece and charged by the pound. For all that I got, it only costed $8. I was more than floored by how reasonably priced it was. And the taste was absolutely fantastic. They were some of the best sweets I’ve had, period. I particularly loved the date cookie, which was soft in the middle and sweetened with honey. I would highly recommend this place for sweets.
Persian Dinner. Pros of this place is the high quality fish and vegetable kabob (Basmati Rice and Greens). Cons are that it was less saltier than I liked and I found myself adding lime and salt. It is definitely a great addition to the middle eastern selections here on the Pike. This market/restaurant double used to be owned by the owner of Sam’s Cafe and they have made use of Sam’s floor plan.
