Bland, mediocre food, small portions, noisy on a Saturday night. Waitress does not give prices when she describes entree specials. Polenta was more like gruel than the expected cake. No reason to charge $11 for 5oz glass of wine. Isolated near big office buildings.
What is too short?. My siblings and I(8) went to dinner the 30th of April, 2011 and had a very poor experience. We were seated in a room that unless you sat on the lap of the person you wished to converse with, it was impossible to hear or have a conversation. The portions of food at very costly prices was ridiculous. My husband ordered halibut-if it arrived weighing more than 4 oz., I would be shocked. I think it was $28.99. I had scallops, all 5 of them. We left to have a meal at home once we paid the bill. It is also time for restaurants such as this to provide fresh fruit rather than all cake and high sugar deserts to at least help a diabetic have an option. Three of the 4 couples paid the bill as it was for one couples anniversary-I would say $412.50 was a costly fee to pay for a most unenjoyable evening-(includes the tip)
Too expensive for the offices for lunch and a too limited lunch menu. Wrong focus for the arena they are in. The place is empty at lunch which should tell the owners that the mist make a change.
Great Food, Sparse Decor. Out first time at Aida – heard many good things. First impression of the new location: Denny’s or did it feel like the breakfast area of the Courtyard Marriott…? Put some pictures on the wall and cover the windows to the parking lot.Food and wine were great – super apps, homemade pasta, white chocolate creme brulle. Only let down was the bread at the start of the meal – very bland, Italian white with a small caraff of what tasted like vegetable oil – where is the chewy, dense artisan bread with some decent oil and balsamic – at these prices they can do better…Wine list is extensive, slightly overpriced but there are a few nice bottles in the mid-$30 range. Will try it again in a few months.
Was it an off night?. The wine bar was out of most of the glass selections (weather was cited for delivery delay?) & the recommended selection was spoiled; had to be returned. Service was good except for being rushed to take away my unfinished meal & until the dining room filled. Then we waited & waited for coffee & check. The scampi was a very good lemon shrimp dish (great homemade pasta in it) but where was the garlic I associate with scampi? The noise level was horrible. I’m not seeing a stars option but I’d at best give it 2 stars–maybe.
Best In The Balto-D.C. Area!. Without a doubt, Aida is the best restaurant in the Baltimore-D.C. area! The food is amazing – thanks to Sean and Lisa – the service is superior, and the new place is awesome. Joe and Mary make you feel like you are part of the family. I have been patronizing Aida Bistro for 8 of their 9 years – and it just gets better and better.
Nice special occasion spot!. I’ve been there several times, for lunch and dinner. Unique menu items. Lunch was light but satisfying. For dinner, their pasta is just amazing. Tender and perfectly cooked. Nice wine selection. I would not recommend this menu for holidays, as I was not impressed with the prix-fixed options – either in selection, or in portion size. It was much more pleasant to eat here during normal hours.
