Horrible service by Peter the manager. Just ate at Xitomate today for lunch and had such a horrible service it prompted me to write about my experience. I’ve been to Xitomate at least 7 times in the past year for lunch/dinner/happy hour cause they have decent mexican food and due to its convenience to my work. While eating there today with my coworkers I ordered the steak quesadillas while being waited on by Breauna. I had a bad feeling when she took our orders without writing down our order and asked my colleague to repeat his order twice. When our food had come out, they brought out steak fajitas instead of quesadillas. Not wanting to wait or inconvenience the wait staff I said it’s ok I can just eat the fajitas. I asked for some cheese on the side so I could make a type of quesadillas with the steak and wraps. When we ask for our bill, they had charged me for the fajitas which were 6 dollars more than the quesadillas. I asked Breauna if she could charge me for the food i had originally asked for and ordered. She brings her manager, Peter, who states, since I ate the fajitas, i would be charged for the fajitas. As a favor, he would deduct the 50 cents they had charged me for the cheese. When stating i would take the fajitas, I wasn’t told or explained i would be charged for the higher priced entree. I didn’t even know the price of the fajitas and thought i was doing them a favor by agreeing to eat the fajitas. When i repeated stated I shouldn’t have to pay for the higher priced dish, Peter kept repeating that I had eaten the fajitas and I would have to pay for this dish. I just paid my bill in order to leave but this experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. As someone that frequents this restaurant i found it extremely tacky and a bad business decision that they would insist on charging me an extra 6 dollars but lose any future business with me. I will make sure to stay clear of Xitomate when planning any future lunches, dinners and happy hours. On a side note, i noticed the quality of the food deteriorating the past year. When the restaurant first opened, the food was made to order, but these days, the enchiladas suizas, my usual go to, seem to be premade and just microwaved. Also, the water glasses on the table are sometimes dirty, which prompts me to order soda everytime i visit.
Definitely not the best Mexican good I’ve ever had…. Service was rough–they all seemed totally confused like they had no clue what was going on and the bar was out if everything we asked for. Probably will not be returning.
Went for dinner for the first time last night. Got there at 7:30 and got last 2 top. Had the la diabla margarita- hot and sweet, was really good! Friend had the mi Amor and also liked hers. Chips were thicker and good- salsa was fine.We shared Rojo guac, it was good, was supposed to med hot- I would say mild.Shrimp tacos in corn tortillas were great! Out server was also very nice. Would recommend and will go again!
Amazingly good!. Arrived at an off time on Sunday afternoon….2:30 p.m. so just at the end of the brunch menu and prior to dinner menu. Pretty much empty, so had our choice of seating, no waiting and very attentive staff. Homemade chips and salsa were delicious. Ordered the chesapeake guacamole which was fresh and good; could have used a little salt for either that or the chips, but no salt shakers anywhere and we kept forgetting to ask. My friend got the brisket enchiladas. They were good, but not amazing. I ordered the tri camarone burrito and it was the most amazing, fresh and authentic Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico! Shockingly good, great flavor etc. Had a side of black beans which were nothing special, but the rice was delicious….not sure what they put in it, but absolutely delicious. House margarita and the palermo were both also very good, fresh not the normal premixed taste you often get. I highly recommend and plan to go back soon.
Homemade excellence. Great margaritas, excellent fresh salsa with warm made from scratch chips. super tender and flavorful pork carnitas. large and fresh chili relleno with steak that wasn’t overcooked. will definitely return.
This is a truly authentic Mexican restaurant with new specials every day. This is NOT TexMex, so fans of that variety of food may be disappointed. I recommend the fresh guacamole made at your table.
Food was so-so, service ok, atmosphere blah. Salsa was good, chip extra thick. Nothing worth a second trip.
