Survives because it has no competition.. Looney’s serves standard Sysco-style pub food. The quality is kind of what you’d expect if the McDonald’s Corporation opened a chain of pubs. What makes Looney’s stand out it its consistently mediocre to poor service. The first time that I came here no fewer than three waiters and waitresses passed by our table and waited on people who had arrived well after we did. We’d stop wait staff and ask to order, only to have them wait on other tables. Subsequent visits were not as bad as that first experience, but they were close. Hostesses act like they are doing you a favor when they seat you, and were downright rude when my daughter tried to get take-out.Looney’s could have been a tremendous addition to the area – a friendly pub with high quality pub style food to offer an alternative to its higher priced (but outstanding) neighbors Ranazul and Venegas. Instead it is an overly noisy, fairly unfriendly restaurant that serves mediocre food.

I actually frequent Looney’s a lot and with all the poor reviews I wanted to chime in with some good news. If you are looking for a great place to unwind, eat and have a few drinks with friends- Looney’s is perfect. If you are looking for a quiet place for a romantic date with five star dining and atmosphere, this is not the best choice and knocking down a SPORTS BAR for not being an elegant restaurant is silly. That said, I have been all over the menu and everything tastes really good. Specials are delicious and change weekly, and menu staples like the burgers and wraps will not disappoint. The bartenders here and extremely outgoing and friendly and ready to make sure you have a great time. Admittedly the servers and bar employees get stretched thin on weekends but this is a bar atmosphere and I would not expect anything else. If you aren’t sure what to get the chicken caesar wrap and shepard’s pie are my favorites. Overall this is my favorite spot to watch a game or unwind after work. I can’t think of a better sports bar in the immediate area. Check it out!

Never Again!. I really wanted to like this place! We were given a gift card for $100. The first time we went I had their Reuben with cole slaw which is grilled and open faced. The corned beef was super dry. The meal came before the soup and salad. Our waiter Matt was totally stoned faced; no smile at all until he realized that he gave us another tables bill that was half of ours; he smiled then. Our gift card came up empty. I went home and checked it online and there was $100 on it.We unfortunately decided to try it again tonight; 3-11-11. Our waiter was really a super guy and very attentive; I give him 5 stars. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary and it was awful; way too spicy. I had the Iris stew; and it was awful. Literally, there was ONE piece of lamb and three carrots. Couldn’t find any potatoes at all; it was a bowl of gravy. My garden salad was super. Greens were fresh and veggies on top were also fresh; very big salad of which I took home for later. Gift card didn’t work again. So I gave the waiter the computer print out showing there really was $100 on it. He was helpful and made it happen. The place was packed with people on a Friday night. I can’t believe we would be the only ones that think the food is less than mediocre. Apparently other think as we do in these reviews. Maybe I should’ve had a third drink!!!I’m giving the balance of the gift card away. NEVER AGAIN!With all of these negative reviews you would think the owner would do something about quality control. This will catch up with them.

My wife and I have been to Looneys several times this year and we have always had great service and good food. The brisket sandwich and quesadilla are very good in particular. It’s a great place to watch a game – we’ve been there for olympic hockey, Caps and NFL. Very satisfied.

Definitely not false. Quoting your post Mr. Larney….you sir are the person telling tales. At no time did my husband ever talk to you or anyone from your establishment on the phone…it must have been another disgruntled person. Matter of fact, I never spoke with you. Our only contact was through emails, which I still have. When your rep from Maple Lawn finally contacted me on a Sunday evening about 6 PM, I told her that we would have at *least* 20 people this time and the spring and summer could be quite lucrative for your establishment and that I could never give a definite number of people because it varied, but was always at LEAST 20 people. She spoke to me on the phone only once. I had to email you again to even get her to respond to the call that she promised to make to me the next day. If she would have told me on our initial call that she couldn’t handle our group, that would have been that and I expressed that to her….but no. She didn’t even have the decency to call me to talk to me personally. I got an email which was on Wednesday.I’m not really worried about the word bury, because it appears to me that you might be doing a good job of that on your own.05 Feb, 2010Not the place for ANY event!. I agree with TeresaF. I was trying to make long term relationship with them for a club I belong to and they don’t appear to want the business. It’s amazing in these rough ecomonic times that businesses seem to be nailing their own coffins shut. I emailed them several times, finally got a call back and asked that they get back to me ASAP and it took 4 days to get a return email declining the reservation and that was only after I had emailed the contact gentleman they have on their site. The ultimate in irresponsibility if you ask me. None of my business will ever go there.
