Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by Phyillis. She looked overwhelmed by the number of ppl in my party 3 adults 5 kids… I told her that I had a restaurant.com certificate. She says that you can’t purchase crabs with it just so you know. So I told her OK I will pay cash for crabs and have dinner… She scurried off to find a table. She comes back and states that she doesn’t have a table for us, while I am looking at several empty tables. I told her that we would wait, she looked confused. She didnt want us to wait either. I also let her know that we were OK with sitting at separate tables. She states again that we can’t purchase crabs, I told her thats fine we just want to eat dinner and would get crab separately. SHE STATE A THIRD TIME TGAT WE COULD NOT EAT DINNER AND PURCHASE CRABS SEPARETLY. So I said ok, we will just eat dinner, and get crabs later. She looked confused…she didn’t want us to eat there with our coupon… I was very frustrated. I purchased several restaurant.com certificates. No where does it say that u can’t purchase crabs, then she adds oh and you can’t purchase specials either.Her tone was not inviting. She was assuming we came for crabs and specials. Was it beacuse we were a african american family, idk… I felt that we were definitely being treated different than our white counterparts. My frustration elevated. Why was she trying to discourage us from eating there. Why sell certificates if u are not willing to accept them? I feel that the exclusion of crabs and specials should have been apparent on the restaurant.com website, just like it’s clear that you can only use them if you dine in. I work hard everyday… money is not an issue for me, but she made us feel like we were not good enough to dine there. Dealing with PHYILLIS made for a very bad experience. I would not return to this restaurant. I WILL BE SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE, NO ONE SHOHLD HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHAT I ENDURED…I will be exchanging the rest of my certificates.
