Terrible unless you are friends with the bartender. My husband and I were invited to go out on a Saturday night to enjoy some live music. The bar area was full so we ordered an appetizer and waited just outside until a waitress informed us that a couple chairs were available at the bar. While we were waiting for our appetizer to be served, the bartender rudely asked us to leave the bar because he wanted to save the chairs for his friends. We left the bar without having a chance to enjoy the food. If you are looking for a nice place to socialize on a Saturday night and perhaps have a drink and some food, this is not the place.

Always Satisfied. I have been going to the Main Cup restaurant for over 5 years now and no matter when I go the food and service is always fantastic! The owner is always there and makes sure if any customer is not satisfied he makes it right. He runs the business well and also hires local high school kids to give them an opportunity to work hard and learn a craft. Not many chains or other establishments would do this and the staff and clients are all better off knowing this wonderful local jewel.

Nice decor…bad service. Great ‘feel’…decent food…unpredictable service. Love the local touches, but don’t like the often rude and irritated attitude of the wait staff.

Terrible Experience. It’s a shame that such a cute little restuarant would have has such terrible service and food. Our waitress was rude, slow and smelled so strongly of stale smoke my husband wanted to leave as soon as she got us our drinks. My husband and I split an order of Risotto Croquettes which was without a doubt the most disgusting combination of flavors I’ve ever tasted. I love pesto and taleggio but all this dish served to do was ruin both. Both of us had a salad for our main course which were fine although anything after that disguesting appetizer I would have been happy with anything. The young couple at the table next to us remarked that it’s usually this bad but they come for the bartender. If your looking for a place to get a good mixed drink this may be the place to go but I don’t suggest eating here.My husband was still talking about wasting his money 3 days after our visit.

The service is surprisingly bad, again and again! The young people who work here are rude to customers for no reason.

I eat at the Main Cup every couple months. Great space and atmosphere. I have to make comment on the service. C- You never know if this visit will be the stinker. They pride themselves on employing local young people but there’s seems to be absolutely no service managerial oversight at all. Also, the take out counter has no menu board or menus at all. It’s odd. I still like the Main Cup though.

Initial surprise followed by average food. My girlfriend and I were passing through Middletown looking for somewhere to eat and noticed the Main Cup sign hanging on a bland looking house. We decided to give it a try and were really surprised when we walked inside. The place is pretty large inside using several rooms and additions in a very tastefully refurbished building that has variously been and ice cream parlor and meat market. A couple of the very old oak insulated doors used for closing off the refrigerators are still visible, complete with original iron fixtures. There’s lots of original exposed brickwork too.I wish I could say that the food was as impressive. I had fish and chips. The fries were limp and rubbery and the fish, while good to see a whole filet, was just bland. My girlfriend add the mahi mahi sandwich. It was a very generous portion of fish, nearly too much to make a practical sandwich, but she too thought it was bland. The service was good and we would probably try the place again. Maybe next time the kitchen will have some seasoning.
