As noted with other reviews, the place is noisy, poorly organized, and uncomfortable. The managed did not want to listen to any complaints and I knew more about food and service than the employees. Will not go back and would suggest no one else go here. Seemed to be more interested in fleecing banquet guest than the food or service provided to patrons of the restaurant. I wonder how this places remains in business.
Disappointiing. We had a bridal luncheon for my daughter there last weekend. I was really looking forward to it as the setting is gorgeous and the planning and preparations with Cheryl had gone very smoothly. The food was just okay, but the service was awful. I had to go looking for wait staff to clear our tables. As prearranged, we had brought in Georgetown cupcakes for dessert. Since we were not given any plates for our dessert, we had to use bread plates. My out of town guests were not permitted to box up leftovers to take back to the hotel. We were told the manager did not allow this? What a shame. Such a disppointment.
Fabulous. We have eaten at the Comus twice in the past two months, and it was great. Can’t figure out what the reviewers in this chain are saying, because the dishes they seem to be reviewing aren’t even on the menu. We had a truly amazing Chicken Tamale entree, wrapped elegantly in a corn husk basket, but also in a banana leaf inside, with a fabulous chimichurri like sauce, that ranked with the best we’ve ever eaten. It was authentic and alone is worth a visit The service was fine, too, and the Maitre d’ was charming. Then we went back for a Friday Happy Hour, and the young musicians – singing jazz and motown music – were great, made us (and everybody else!) dance, and the bar menu was fine, too, with good choices of finger foods and really affordable prices. Someone must have a beef with somebody to be posting smack about this place – it’s a treat. This is my wife’s favorite place, and we will be regulars!
A Sad Experience. Bland and expensive beyond belief. We had been to the Inn when they first opened. We thought the food was wonderful and so something has gone terribly wrong. What has happened here was our big question. The waitress said the chef left and was replaced by his assistant, then she volunteered that she was leaving as well. A sad experience with a hefty price tag. Save your money. That’s it for us.
Love-Love-Love The Comus Inn!. My husband & I recently visited the Comus Inn and we had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing (I had the Pan Seared Sea Scallops & my husband had the Ancho-Citrus Rubbed Hanger Steak), the service great and the atmosphere is just what we needed for the rare night out. We would certianly recommend this restaurant and will definately be going back!
Wonderful Brunch!. Had brunch at Comus while in the DC area recently and my family & I truly enjoyed ourselves! The selection was vast, almost overwhelming, but everything was absolutely delicious (particularly the eggs benedict) and I heard nothing but raves from the family members I was dining with. Another highlight for me was the killer view! I look forward to coming back, maybe for drinks & dinner this time, when I return to the DC area.
Fabulous Find !. My husband and I were married at the newly renovated Comus Inn in 2005. We return to the inn for dinner on our anniversary each year. We have had five years of wonderful food, atmosphere and service at the Comus Inn. We recommend this restaturant highy. The wine list is terrific. The prices are just a bit high….but worth it!
