We chose Founding Farmers for its proximity to the National Mall and the fact that it was open early on weekends. Got there at 9am and the line was already out the door. They have an SMS service so we wandered around nearby till we got notified about half an hour later. My breakfast was a simple but satisfying affair: poached eggs on English muffin with a chicken-apple sausage and fruits. I liked this DIY option and thought most of the components were tasty. Ironically, the eggs were a letdown. They weren’t like any poached eggs I’ve tried and instead, reminded me of the egg in a McDonald’s breakfast McMuffin. Yolks were almost cooked through. My friend’s French toast was a delicious meal – thick slices of eggy bread scattered with strawberries and plain cream. Not surprisingly, it was very rich and kept her full till dinner. Great service with plenty of smiles despite the crazy crowds.
