Ive been going to The Silver fountain from the week they opened in the 70s and no matter where Ive moved I always return as often as possible. And the addition of dim sum is a great surprise. They are as good as any Ive had anywhere in the area. They are a Cantonese Chinese food restaurant. The food is excellent and has been consistently excellent throughout the many years Ive been going. Im a foodie, a caterer and love Chinese food. I have many many great Chinese food restaurant experiences in the DMV and The Silver Fountain ranks right up at the top. The negative reviews are puzzling and surprising. Im not sure what was expected. Perhaps Cantonese style is unfamiliar and so not what was expected.

Never go here! If you want Dim Sum go to Good Fortune near downtown Silver Spring. The wait for this place is extremely long and they sat people based on relationship!! My bf and I went here for brunch and we waited for almost an hour. There was another couple that came in after us but they got sat first because they knew the owner’s family. When we finally got sat, we were sat at a dirty table….they don’t swept the dirty floor when they do turnover! The food was okay…..just like other Dim Sum place
Awesome food, place fills up quick so come before 2, may take take some people getting used to how they serve food so don’t grab th first thing that comes by

Must go for dim sum. Silver Fountain serves Hong Kong style dim sum during lunch hours; prices are reasonable. If you don’t see the dim sum that you want on the carts, you can ask them and most of the time they will make it for you.Recommendations: BBQ pork bun, (pineapple) custard bun
Excellent Food!. Dim Sum and dinner entrees are excellent here! Must go and try their food. Dim Sum is Cantonese and served in carts. Go early before they sell out. Ask the owners for dinner entrees recommendations. The owners are always at the restaurant and more than willing to help you select their specialty dishes!
