An article we read before visiting North Beach touted Neptune’s as recommended by locals. The fare we enjoyed was delish, but the kitchen couldn’t keep up with the traffic. And I feel they were trying too hard as the prices didn’t warrant the outcome. #touristtrap
Self seating here. Limited seating, about half of the customer area is dedicated to the bar. My score is low because of two distinct issues. The sliced lemons, served on our drink cups, were bad. They looked fine, but had a distinct spoiled taste. The asparagus was over cooked, on my plate it was room temperature. The entrees were well presented and colorful. The portions were reasonable. The bar area was very busy, this appeared to affect the service times. Though polite and working together, the servers spent minimal time checking on customers in the dining area. I had to wait five minutes to complain about the spoiled lemons, then several minutes on a replacement drink. No apologies, but the tea was taken off the bill.The crab cake was flavorful. The warm asparagus would have been more appetizing if the tops had not been grilled dark and a little crispy. The visit was not very memorable.
I’ve been to Neptune’s each of the 3 years I’ve come to North Beach. I was actually there 3 times in the past week….that’s how much I like the joint ! The food is always good and the service pretty much as well. I like the variety of their menu and it’s quite affordable. Too bad they don’t take reservations !
Ate here on a Sunday and enjoyed 2lbs of PEI mussels for 14 bucks! Rest of menu was very creative which surprises given its out of the way location. We’ll be back.
