Sushi de Kanpai is my go to place on Tuesdays for their select rolls 25% off including my favorite, Top Hat Roll. Normally, I also order either Salmon or Ocean Trout Sashimi and Ikura Sushi. I am addicted to the Tempura Green Beans. Best Sushi in the Salisbury area.
Can’t go wrong with kanpai!. Went with a group of 8 last week and everything was fantastic. The restaurant is small and very nice. The decor is very simple and modern, and the sushi bar is fairly large. They have a small room in the back for hosting meetings and private parties. And overall the restaurant was very clean, with very roomy bathrooms. We all sat at the sushi bar and talked to former Cultured Pearl master sushi chef Hiro Sano who is the new owner of Kanpai, and the service was fantastic.Hiro presented us with a few unique apps, the first was a mixture of maguro(tuna), masago(smoked flying fish roe), spicy mayo, and crab meat with wonton chips, it was delicious. After that we had gyoza, listed on the menu as pork dumplings but in reality they were pot stickers which is much better in my opinion and a few orders of tempura chicken with a wasabi honey mustard, also very very tasty. For the main course I had three rolls, the Salisbury with teriyaki chicken, cream cheese, jalapeno, tempura bit and wasabi mayo(I know it’s a sacrilege in the sushi world, I’m sorry but I had to try it since I’ve never had a roll with teri chicken inside!), the Bakudan with garlic tuna, & avocado tempura rolled and fried with spicy mayo, and the Angel Kiss with crabmeat, spicy masago, avocado, jalapeno, tempura bits, scallions, wrapped with tuna, white tuna, wasabi mayo, this one was by far my favorite, I had never really tried escolar(white tuna) before since I’m a fan of hamachi and maguro and I was a skeptic but after having this roll I see what all the fuss is about. I also shared an order of teriyaki New York strip that was delicious, and cooked to perfection. One of the best teriyaki dishes I’ve ever tasted. For dessert we all shared mochi(Japanese ice cream made with pounded sticky rice and rolled into a ball) and the double chocolate cake, a very moist and rich cake, both we’re very nice portions and tasted great. All in all this was a wonderful experience, we’ll definitely be back. This is one stop on the way to the beach you shouldn’t pass up.
AMAZING.. Every time we eat at Sushi de Kanpi everything is flawless. The atmosphere is casual and urban. The Lemon Drop Martini and the Dinamite roll …beyond words. I’ve never tried better Sushi ANYWHERE.
I live in a loft above kanpai. It’s fantastic being able to walk down and grab something to go. The people are super friendly.
