Good irish pub, has a great atmosphere, owner is very friendly- parking stinks, but thats not the establishments fault. I would recommend the sheppards pie. delicious.
Best burger in all of Salisbury…even over all the franchises like 5guys and BWW. The kicker is something they have that no other pub had done right until now and I’m a true Irishmen and it’s the house shot!!! Theirs is a pickle shot and I don’t know who the mixologist is but he or she is spot on!!! Best I’ve ever had and beats the Manhattan clubs version hands down…and $7 cheaper…Best pub on my way to OC. Keep it up!!!
Best place in Salisbury. I’m not sure what that other poster Elle was talking about. Maybe she went someplace else but we tried the fish and chips, the Reuben , and 3 other menu items and loved all if them. The portions were large for the price. I’m so happy we didn’t go by what the other review said. The manager Scott was an absolute dream. Helpful, knowledgable , and even open to suggestions regarding their tarter sauce. We will be returning every chance we get.
Dinner Pairing. Whiskey’s of the World Dinner:This past Tuesday, I went with my friends to The Irish Penny Pub & Grill for a Whiskey’s of the World dinner, and let me tell you, I was psyched. First, it was Tuesday night and I was out past 7pm. Second, the dinner paired with four courses of good non-diet eats, prepped by Chef Frank Dubinski and the cocktails tested and prepared by Erich and Jayme (with this trio at the helm, it is guaranteed to be a great event)!! I thought the star of the night would be the Whiskey straight up. But to my enjoyment and education, the cocktails and food, were the guests of honor. With four courses, four whiskey’s and four cocktails, we were in for a delightful time.First course was: PEI Mussels in a Garlic & Wine sauceWhiskey: Pendleton Canadian Whiskey.Cocktail: Maple Smash. The whiskey was young on the nose with aromas of caramel and lemon. Honey, smoke and caramel on the palate with a light hint of mint. A great choice to go with the bold yet delicate taste of the Garlic & Wine with the Mussels.Second course: Beet and Feta Spinach with a Bacon VinagretteWhiskey: Gentleman Jack.Cocktail: Bacon Infused Old FashionThe Whiskey had a nose of cinnamon and vanilla with an oaky smell. Vanilla, Honey and Black Pepper on the palate. Was a little thin and quick on the finish. The Honey and pepper were such a great team to go with the vinaigrette. The beets and feta became more pronounced with the flavors of the Whiskey.Third Course: Cork & Kerry Chicken (Blackened Chicken w/ Melted Brie and Braised CabbageWhiskey: Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey.Cocktail: The Big Ginger. The Whiskey has a nose of mild lemon and melt, with char and oak. On the palate is a smooth butter and oak with a peaty aftertaste. All the flavors of the food and drinks, intertwined and just made an incredible pairing!!! This was the star of the show for me.Fourth Course: Chocolate Bread Pudding topped with Orange SherbetWhiskey: Compass Box OrangerieCocktail: Chocolate Covered OrangeA good pairing for the dessert and cocktail. All in all this was an excellent event and I look forward to many more at The Irish Penny. Cheers to Jeff, Scott and the staff. When you are in Salisbury stop by and give them a try. They always have many specials and make it a wonderful time.
Who Knew?. So we have been to this shopping center before and driven past it more times than that. My husband happened to spot the sign for The Irish Penny last night as we were scouring the streets for another restaurant. We gave in and stopped here. SO GLAD we did. I had the Turkey Turnover a large puff pastry crust stuffed with roasted turkey, mixed veggies, dried cranberries and brie! My husband had the Shepherd’s Pie which he loved. The atmosphere and decor are great, our waitress Katy was polite, attentive and sweet. We managed to have an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert for under $40. For the portion size, the quality of taste and the service I’d say that’s a steal. We will most definitely be returning and bringing friends.
A Consistently Enjoyable Experience. I have visited The Irish Penny on several occasions. Each and every time the food and service has been consistently good. The menu features Irish / American classics. The food is always exceptionally prepared and delivered with a smile. From the hostess, to the waitress, to the bartender, to the owners, patrons are always met with friendly, courteous, and prompt service. The atmosphere is warm and inviting set with Irish music in the background. Live music and Live Pub Sessions are the makings for a fun filled evening with friends. I will be returning often and hope to see many friends at The Irish Penny as well. Slainte!
2nd Visit – Better than the First!. We were very lucky to be able to get the last available table at the Irish Penny on Valentine’s Day (after making a reservation at a different restaurant in Salisbury and that restaurant not honoring reservations made by their own e-mail marketing campaign!!! and not wanting to wait over 45 minutes for a table!!…but enough of the negative) – Back to the positive – The Irish Penny offered 2 specials for Valentine’s Day – an amazing pork chop with whiskey cranberry glaze (my husband said it was the best pork chop he ever ate…(hmphhh, no more making pork chops in my house!) and a potato crusted cod on a bed of fresh spinach and a lovely, not heavy, cream sauce, which I ordered and it was DELICIOUS! We both ordered the braised cabbage and mashed potatoes, but were too full for dessert 🙁 Thanks to the Irish Penny for saving our Valentine’s Day dinner – we are extremely grateful – and thanks to our waitress who was a delight. Next time….Seafood stew….fish and chips…hmmmm…..have to wait and see!25 Jan, 2013The Irish Penny – Authentically Irish. On a cold and blustery night, we ventured out to try the new Pub in Salisbury, MD, The Irish Penny. We were not disappointed. We started off with the homemade soft pretzel appetizer that came with a delicious sauce and a whole grain mustard for dipping-they did not last long! Our son ordered the specialty hamburger with BBQ sauce, which he loved. My husband ordered the corned beef and cabbage sandwich with chips (Irish chips – potato slices deep fried) and he said it was awesome. (They also have real malt vinegar on each table for chip dipping – which we love!) Since it was cold and snowy out, I ordered the beef stew – the perfect dish for warming you up, body and soul. It was packed full of tender beef, hearty carrots and pearl onions with a scoop of homemade mashed potatoes in the middle of a rich, delicious beef gravy. It was absolutely delightful. We had a great time. The atmosphere was warm and pub-like, not too rowdy, a perfect mix for diners and those at the bar, alike. We all want to go back and try a different dish – they offer delicious authentic Irish cuisines – seafood stew, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips and much, much more. Can’t wait to go back!
