We enjoyed a romantic dinner here with one of their special menus and werent disappointed. Set in an historic train station, the place has a rustic appeal to it and the food only makes it better. Great for a special night with special people.
Excellent. We ordered the Chef’s menu and it was superb. The Chef presented each course, we had amazing wine pairings, great music and a nice, leisurely pace for the meal.Loved it!
My first visit was good in the outdoor covered patio . It was sunny and the passing freight train added to the charm . The food was fresh and the bartender/ waiter was great. My second visit was horrible. This night we were seated inside in a stuffy, dark area with dirty fake silk flowers on the table . The waitress was not at all attentive after she found out we were ordering from the smaller plate bar menu . She never checked on our food or drinks until the mean was almost over . The crab cake was fishy and full of heavy seasoning and contained no lump meat at all . The cheese steak was ordered with LT and M and contained none of these items. The rug was old and worn out looking and the bathroom was so dimly lit that you could barely see. The water server was the most attentive of any of the wait staff . Prices for entrees were high , glad we didn’t opt for any of those items. This place is trying to be an upscale dining establishment , but sadly falls way short. Clean up your restaurant please ,and for heavens sake at least place fresh flowers on your linen covered tables .
Loved the place and the people!. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. I’ll be sure to return next time I’m in Sykesville. After lunch, I left my credit card there. When I called later that day, they had placed it in their safe. Jayme took my address and I got it in the mail the next day.
Loved the outdoor seating- beautiful to lookout at the train tracks and the creek below. Warning: when trains do pass by they are very loud, inside the Restuarant and outside. Their raspberry iced tea is absolutely adddictive! Couldn’t get enough! My grandmother and I shared the coconut shrimp salad which was good- shrimp and warm vinaigrette were excellent but the green were rather simple; romaine hearts, carrot ribbons and red onion slices. Wished for a bit more but still satisfied. For our entree we both had the Smoked Salmon Flatbread, SO HEAVENLY! Fresh baked flatbread, warm and earthy feta spread, large warm pieces of smoked salmon topped with roasted green peppers and artichokes. Absolutely delicious! For dessert she had the lemon chiffon cake which was good, but not very special. I had the chocolate cups- I would’ve liked the portion to be a little smaller but then again the chocolate and peanut butter mouser filled chocolate cups were so delicious I still ate it all! Almost all of their desserts are topped/plated with their fresh homemade whipped cream, which has a rich French vanilla flavor that is marvelous, and fresh berries ( we had blackberries and blueberries. Overall a very nice atmosphere and good cuisine!
Excellent! Great Setting. This is a wonderful setting in an old train station in the countryside in Sykesville, MD. Quaint and cozy. Upscale menu. On the pricey side, but absolutely worth it. The chef does everything to perfection. Relax and take your time. You’ll enjoy it.
