The location is very well maintained, the environment is open and comfortable. Our most recent meal was served quickly. The food was as expected, fresh looking and tasting. A manager was proactively checking on guests. The portion sizes are reasonable. If my server had been more attentive I’d have given them a 4.5 rating. Though not a BBQ expert, I’ve had my share locally as well through the Carolinas. I find the food here competitive quality wise with the better offerings I’ve eaten. Pricing is good for our area. The smoke level of the food is above average, but not award level.

I don’t get the fuss. After reading so many good reviews on other sites, we decided to try this place. They were completely out of brisket on a weeknight. The guy who answered the phone seemed annoyed that I was placing a take-out order for 4 people. When we went to pick up the food, the 2 people working at the counter seemed very disinterested in their jobs and the customers. The Arkansas Beef BBQ was dry, and the sauce was too sweet. The Carolina Chopped BBQ was very good but was missing the sauce that I had requested. The carry-out portions of cole slaw were barely kid-size. We will not be back.

Great brisket & BBQ beans! I do carryout because it does get crowded – it’s fast & yummy!

Too Noisy. We finally got to try this eatery last night. Had attempted several times before but they are closed on Sundays. As we walked in we couldn’t help but notice how loud it was. To communicate with someone across the table voices had to be raised. The ribs were OK but nothing more. Famous Daves are much better. I was also surprised to see that my 13 y/o daughter’s ribs were substantially larger than mine (we ordered the exact same thing) so it appears they have a consistency issue here as well. On top of that, I didn’t appreciate all the plastics (forks, knives, serving baskets, especially at their prices. We will not be back.

Iffy at best. First off, if you order take-out check your order before you leave. So far, the 2 times we have gone, they have messed up our order. The bottle of BBQ sauce is so watery it does not stay on the ribs (of which some were burnt). The chicken wings were pretty good, other than the ones that were burnt. The coleslaw is literally pulverized, though the flavor was actually not bad. The potato salad, though having an OK consistency, tasted weird and the size of the pieces varied from very large to mashed. The mac and cheese was lumpy, and even though you can taste the cheddar cheese, no amount of heating could get rid of the lumps and clumps of cheese. The pinto beans and rice had a nice flavor, but a suggestion: Leave out the rice (that’s Cuban!). The other beans were just OK. And it seems the ribs are cooked using only 1 sauce flavor: semi-hot. What if you do not like your ribs with a kick? Too bad (at least for the 2 times we ordered take-out). The cornbread was good, but they plop the little packets of butter in with the hot stuff so by the time you get home all you have is a puddle of melted butter. Semi-rude, and somewhat incompetent staff does not help endear us to this place.

Just OK. Stopped by for lunch a couple of time and found the BBQ to be less smoky than most, the portion size more than fair, but the sauces to be horrible. The fact that Dogtoberfest was on tap a step in the right direction in comparison to the Frederick location’s animosity to good beer.
