Not bad pizza, popular family spot. (03/30/2012) Pretty good local spot for what you would usually find in a take-out/delivery spot, but it’s sit down and a step above. As you walk in, the entire place is filled with the aroma of sauteed garlic. There were large pasta portions being served all around us that looked pretty appetizing, full of fresh ingredients. The gratis country-style Italian bread had a nice resilient chew, crusty exterior, sour (in a good way); served with balsamic/olive oil dipping mix with a few scattered dried rosemary leaves. We started with the Arancini (deep-fried rice balls filled with ground beef, peas and mozzarella). They were golden, not exactly crisp on the outside, inside dense and chewy, rice grains a little al dente, savory, filling; served with a tart, garlicky marinara. The Bruschetta Napoletana was three 1/2-inch, toasted slices of the country-style Italian bread (toasted hard, difficult to cut) topped with diced hothouse tomatoes tossed in olive oil, a vampire-repelling amount of garlic, and some shreds of basil (somewhat bruised). The Mediterraneo Salad was a fairly plain bed of spring mix, handful of pine nuts, walnuts, one halved grape tomato, three kalamata olives, and smear of goat cheese; house dressing was an unbalanced overly tart balsamic vinaigrette. Ordered a New York style pizza that was fairly thin, had a crunchy bread dough like crust, also had a little chew; had sufficient amount of meat topping, meatballs were shaved thin (looked to be a frozen product). Place was packed when we walked in, it was like a teen/tween mecca; with their parents, in packs, waiting tables. Hope you don’t really need to have a conversation, it was crazy noisy. Food was all right, prices reasonable.
Terrible management. I ordered a salad here and I asked them to change the iceberg lettuce to spring mix. I was charged two dollars which was half the price of the salad, on top of the 4.95 it normally costs simply for changing the lettuce. I was informed by a couple sitting near me that the owners go crazy with the charges and will try to rip people off in any way possible! Do not go to this place. The food is not that good and it sure is not worth the hassle!!
Don’t use Groupon. I tried using a Groupon this week at Pasta Blitz. They falsely advertised a endless pasta meal for two. They refused to provide a second dish without charging, they charge extra for everything except the actual pasta, including things like bolanese sause on pasta. They charged me more to use the Groupon then I would have paid simply coming in off the street. I paid $15 for the groupon and $24.20 extra for the meal when I ordered a & $15 meal, that should have been $31.00 total. I complained to the manager and he would not apologize and said he charges extra for each item in the meal except for the pasta even if it goes over the entire price on the meal. What a rip off. Ken
Rigatoni Frutti Di Mare. This dish was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and the flavors were absolutely amazing. You get more than enough seafood in the dish and they don’t go overboard on the pasta as most places do. It had the right balance of sweet to heat as they added capers to the dish, this really brought the dish home. The shrimp were rather large, but perfectly cooked, as were the scallops and the crab meat was sweet and plentiful. The seafood was all very fresh and very flavorful without being too overwhelming. The description says light marinara but the sauce was plentiful and the chunks of tomato were absolutely key to the dish. My only alteration to this dish would be a little less salt, at times this became overwhelming. The portions are more than fair for the price, and I had enough to take leftovers home for a second meal. And that’s without appetizers, not counting the amazing bread bites with balsamic vinegar and olive oil rosemary blend that is a staple to the experience!
Pasta Blitz is a pizza shop trying real hard to be an Italian restaurant. It just doesn’t make the cut as an Italian restaurant. That shouldn’t dissuade you from going here for pizza because it is good. The Italian dishes are microwave reheated and are somewhat bland so I would suggest staying away from them. The decor is upscale pizza shop but its clean and the service is fast.
Food was good, atmosphere friendly and down to earth, but the wait of 1 hour for the food was too long
The Gnocchis are the best I have ever had. I keep going back …I had the Gnocchi Caprese with fresh cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, the Sorrentina with Ricotta cheese, theGgnocchi in Pesto sauce. Last weekend they had Gnocchi with pumpkin and Italian Sausages and Taleggio Cheese…..the prices are very affordable! Great place, cozy and warm…very casual!
