Creamed dry beef. Best dryer beef I have ever had over a homemade biscuit

Ridiculously cramped. The on-line food reviews are amazing. Too bad nobody mentioned that they pack people in like cattle. You practically have to sit on top of people for a table.

Bland and no one smiles!!. Why do people line up to eat here?? My spanish omelette was supposed to have seafood and a tangy spanish sauce… but no seafood in the omelette and just a little seafood in the sauce- NOT what was described. The chipped beef was flavorless and just mediocre warm. No one smiled in there. The busers looked and acted like they hated their job and not one waitress smiled. The only person who smiled looked like a manager.. what’s with this place?? We didn’t bother going on a weekend – wish we hadn’t bothered at all….. go elsewhere…

Very Good Old Fashioned Diner. Breakfast is a little of a challenge in Beach towns. There is always an IHOP and a few other places making an offering, but our experience is that most of them just kind of go through the motions without really seeming to love what they are doing. The General’s Kitchen breaks the mold in this regard. Their offerings are pretty much standard diner breakfast items, but they work hard to make them the best they can be. The hash browns are real potatoes made from scratch. The waffles light and fluffy. The omelet we ordered was bacon, onion and cheese. It was big with lots of good bacon cooked in, and onions that were grilled soft and sweet before being added to the eggs. The service was fast and efficient – the waitress was cheery and made us feel welcome. I watched the staff including the cooks – they are all old hands – the owner must treat them well enough to keep the good ones around. We like this place – wish we had found it before our last day in town.

The food is okay. Pretty basic breakfast stuff. I was very unimpressed that they serve bottled chocolate milk. The service is absolutely terrible. Everything is so rushed. Not worth the wait.

Chipped Beef. Thank goodness there are still places on this earth that celebrate creamed chipped beef! The General is a no-nonsense breakfast joint with lots of the usual eggs and pancakes options. The creamed chip beef on toast comes with either hash browns or grits…order it.

Liked it. Great place! The french toast is the best. No reservations, it is a first come first served type setting and in the summer there is usually a line. But it is worth it.
