(7/15/2016) Our standard place for bagels is Rosenfeld’s further south. Checked out Uber Bagels just because they were across the street. Place is next to the Crabby Pig in the middle of the strip mall. There’s some counter space for singlets, and some dine-in tables (indoors and out), best bet is carryout. This is basically a sandwich place with bagels as the carb of choice or go for the classic schmear. The Whitefish Wave, whitefish is very wet (lots of mayo), like they pureed the hell out of the flaked fish. Lox with cream cheese, capers, and red onions was a classic (def sufficient amount of cream cheese schmeared on the bagel). Honestly, not a big fan of the bagels, although it’s advertised they’re made in-house. Sizes are inconsistent (skinny bagel 1 1/2 inch hole or fat bagel no hole, 2 inches tall), baked very (too) dark so there’s a noticeable burnt aftertaste, Everything bagel rather salty (kosher salt in the mix). Possibly this may be heresy, but a little TOO chewy, like when you bite into it, everything in the middle squishes out the side and it’s hard to tear off the bite. Service was as you’d expect from surly teenagers on a summer job who’d rather be on the beach than taking orders and making change for tourists (but who wouldn’t?).
We were looking to try a new breakfast spot on our recent off-season weekend getaway and it was a toss up between this and the Bay Skillet. Thank goodness we chose here! Ample seating, indoor and outdoor seating, clean eating area, friendly cashier, bottled drinks/milk/soda/juice as well as coffee/tea/fountain drinks. Lots of fresh soft chewy bagels to choose from. I highly recommend the Old Bay bagel! Tons of great sandwiches (hot and cold) as well as breakfast bagels and other side dishes. They serve quality Boars Head meats, Jeppi’s nuts, and other natural or organic snacks, too.We will definitely be back!
