The food is good, pricey but competitive. The atmosphere is promising but a slave better experienced filled them quiet as I experienced it on my weekday visit. Service was referent and friendly if somewhat novice. In all I was satisfied with my visit to the red raven. I seek out self proclaimed gastropubs to see what the definition of becoming, expectations suspended. I had s generous and flavorful salmon burger, my companion a daily catch of salmon and shrimp, also a large fresh portion, well prepared – simple but elegant. I enjoyed the long draft list as a custom flight. I’d have preferred a more diverse draft list but the number of distinct breweries made up for a lack of styles.I would happily revisit the Raven. Quoth it, evermore.
Food is great, wait staff is not. The food is very well done. The wait staff does not want to be bothered by the customers. Our waitress could not tell us what cheeses were on the cheese board appetizer we ordered. She never asked how our meal was, after delivering it to the table. She brought 2 desserts to the table almost 10 minutes apart. And, she never reappeared to take our bill — we had to hand it to a passing waiter.
Enjoyed a relaxed lunch with friends today. I ordered the veggie flatbread which was fresh and full of flavor (nicely roasted garlic, red peppers, asparagus). My friends ordered the onion soup and the Congress Board. Overall, we were very pleased with the entire experience. Great food; great service for being newly opened. Nice interior–updated, refreshed and improved from the days of when it was Scupper Jack’s. Acton area is in desperate need of a decent restaurant with ambience and this place has a lot of potential to meet that need! I look forward to trying their dinner menu. I’ll be back.
I had to change my opinion of this place after visiting a few more times.Horrible management with little to no experience and very rude to their customers. Extremely high beer prices. And very green wait staff.I will not be returning, nor will I recommend this place to anyone I know.27 Nov, 2013Ate there for dinner in the bar area for their ‘soft’ opening. The place was packed in anticipation for new innovative food, which Acton is somewhat lacking. It took a while to get seated (Which is expected when jam packed) but it was nice to see the staff react properly and open up the dining room so customers did not have to wait all night. The soft opening was only for the bar area originally per their website. While waiting we were given a sample of their ‘spicy nuts’ and they were tasty.Ordered the following:Pork Confit Tacos came 3 to a plate and were very good. Wrapped in flour tortillas, which I prefer over corn anyday..Veggie Flat Bread Pizza was my friend’s choice, she thinks she’s a vegetarian, but eats meat occasionally.. So I have it a try and it was pretty damn good for not having meat. Although I would have preferred a balsamic glaze over the salsa verde as a sauce myself. And last we got the sweet and spicy wings. They were crunchy and had the right amount of sauce, but to be honest the sauce was lacking a bit. Kind if tastes like it was ‘burnt’ sauce. Maybe I am just not familiar with this sauce type, but it wasn’t for me.Overall the renovations look great and the staff is very polite. I will be returning for my second go around very soon and expect to make this my go to restaurant in Acton. It has great potential.
Went there for light dinner. Shared the fungi sliders which were my favorite. Had the flatbread goat cheese veggie also good. The corn dog was plain like any dog with a-little smokiness. A bratwurst dog would be more tasty. Although the food had great taste and a modern feel, the menu seemed limited for frequent returns. The butterscotch pudding in a jar was too sweet and thin. It would be better in a smaller jar with a price cut. 8.00 is too much for plain pudding and whip cream. We waited too long for food to come out. This was very frustrating even our great waitress was frustrated for us too. Service was excellent but I felt bad for her when the kitchen can’t handle the crowd.People need to Understand that when the kitchen lacks proper timing for tables its not the waitress’s fault.Ultimately I won’t return for awhile to see if they get their kinks out and try again later.
