Funky, different. Nice vibe inside, very good service, nice waitress. Imaginative and tasty menu. Kale salad and truffle fries were starters, both excellent. Spaghetti carbonara and lemon cream gnocchi both excellent. A Cobb salad was adequate. Good cocktails. Dessert: maple syrup bread pudding with bacon was absolutely divine.

Perfect!!. Johnny’s Tavern is a hidden gem in Amherst. I went there last night and we started with drinks- my boyfriend Matt got beer and I got one of their specialty drinks- their Margarita which was made with jalepeno tequila. After his beer, my boyfriend then got another one of their specialty drinks which was a Gin Grapefruit. This was so unbelievable that I finished his and then ordered one of my own. Matt then ordered the Johnny 007 which was again, so amazing. Now, for the food…. We started with the Truffle Fries which were simply amazing. Then, I ordered the Grilled Portabella and Matt ordered the Steak and Eggs. Both came with salads that come with homemade dressings. Also, our server gave us bread and oil that was also great. The Steak and Eggs was to die for. It comes with a warm bacon potato salad and it was so good Matt finished it all after already having so much food. This restaurant was simply amazing and I hope that since this place is new, a lot of people try it out instead of going to the same old Amherst Center restaurants.

Very Good. Since Johnny’s has opened I have been there, amazingly, 4 times. Two times for dinner and twice for lunch. Each time I came with a different combination of my siblings, and only once without my wife. In short, the dinner entrees were very good. – standard fair in most cases and done with care and attention to detail. The lunch special, if they still have it going, is incredible. Their burgers are great in the first place, but they offer a burger plus any draft beer for $7.00! Makes you want to stay for two burgers but that would take a mammouth appetite. I would recommend Johnny’s to all local yocals, and also to those visiting from out-of-town. I happen to believe there are many fine restaraunts in Amherst [and N’hampton] and the surrounding area and I think we can add Johnny’s to that list.p.s. The wait staff are great. If you like beer and like IPAs, try the Green Flash. Recommended to me by an employee and I think its exellent. And the daytime bartender who suffered my two brothers and me [I forget her name, darn it] handled us with remarkable ease.

Excellent. Came here a few days after it opened, and the place seems to be already doing some good business. Will certainly be nice to add to the small number of decent restaurant/bar combos in town. When I went with two others, we had mussels and fries to start, and then two burgers and the chicken dish. Everything was excellent – the truffle fries were killer, a portion big enough for three people, with awesome seasoning and herbs going on. It comes with a tasty tomato jam. The mussels, while not as plentiful as the fries were good. No unopened ones (always annoying to find) and the white wine sauce was just right. Now onto the entrees: My wife had the chicken and pronounced it excellent. My friend and I had burgers. The burger was quite possibly, and I’ve had burgers in Texas, New York and California, one of the best I’ve had. It’s $10 and a bit extra for bacon and for that you get a serious oozing, cheddar laden meaty mouth party. Any burger that drips juices onto the plate is doing it right. The cheese is rich, mature vermont cheddar and the meat (probably more than 1/4 lb) is fantastic. We didn’t get desserts, but saw a couple nearby enjoying some good looking chocolate thing. All together our bill seemed pretty fair, but our orders were some of the least expensive on the menu. Our cocktails were reasonable, and draught beers are all $5, which is normal. Conclusion – have already been back, drinks and apps at the bar, and will doubtless continue to go back if not to have the burger then to try something else. 5 stars.
