Madrona Tree is one of those restaurants that specializes in fresh, healthy foods, so you wouldn’t think it would be a great place to go for a burger and fries, but it is. The burgers aren’t large, but they pack a lot of beefy flavor, and you can get all kinds of great toppings. You can get a basket of hand-cut fries, either regular or sweet potatoes, or better yet, get a mixed basket. The homemade sodas are also excellent, made with plenty of fresh fruit. Madrona Tree has a large number of vegetarian dishes. I tried the falafel once, but I like mine crisp and these were not. You can also get a number of different grilled cheese sandwiches or a nitrite-free hot dog. It’s kind of like fast food, only done right.
