Four of us tried a variety of appetizers, including steak tartare, duck pate, a tomato salad as well as several main dishes, such as a chefs special shrimp-filled tortellini with roasted corn, and roasted duck breast. Each dish was exquisitely prepared with subtle flavors and fresh ingredients. Do not forget to try some of the French wines. The service was fine, but not exceptional. They have a beautiful outdoor eating area.

The duck confit and asparagus salad were beautifully prepared. The duck and lamb entrees were both intensely flavorful with sides that complemented the meats perfectly. The service was slow and then rushed and then incredibly slow. We had the menus for quite a while before the server returned to take our order. The starters came after a reasonable amount of time (and were delicious) so we seemed to be off to a good start. The starter plates were cleared right after we finished and the entrees were brought almost immediately after that – not appropriate pacing for fine dining. After dessert, we waited about 30 minutes before the waitress checked to see if we wanted anything else (we did not). Another 30 minutes or more elapsed before we saw her again and got the check. For a $330 meal and nearly $60 tip, we felt that we got a good value for the food and a reasonable value for the wine. We got a very poor value for the service. We saw her maybe 6 times (2-4 minutes each) in 3 hours. The server was either not properly trained or simply not interested in doing her job. We might return. If service had been on par with the food, we would definitely have come back and recommended to friends.

Every time I’ve been, the food has been outstanding – the lamb is fantastic, so is the haddock and the black bass. The appetizers are generally great with the exception of the duck confit. In particular the heirloom beets and the duck pate are great to try and share. The service is confused. Confuse pompous with classy, Confuse irregular serving rhythm with lingering and confuse a greeting line with a welcome. The one bright spot was the busing between courses. Tiny Portions of Good Food. We stopped in at this beautifully designed upscale neighborhood French spot on Saturday night for dinner with friends before a show. The staff is just as gorgeous as the building interiors, with most of them looking freshly arrived from a photo shoot, but they were warm and friendly and extremely efficient. We started with a round of three appetizers to share at the table — the duck pate was exactly as you’d expect, rich and buttery, the foie gras was seared perfectly with a molten interior, yada yada yada. The real star was the beet salad! Big chunks of many different types of flavorful, earthy, multi-colored sweet beets sharing a plate with herbed chevre, dressed greens and walnuts. I would get this dish every time I visit this restaurant. My main course was the double veal – thimble-sized morsels of veal spread out over an acre of bare white plate, as if I was getting the unfinished leftovers from another table. Don’t get me wrong, it was perfectly delicious, but I’m kinda glad we tanked up on apps beforehand otherwise I would have wanted a pizza afterwards. Service, as mentioned above, was flawless and the acoustics in the strikingly modern but comfortable dining room permitted easy and relaxed conversation.
